The role

Summary

PostHog is seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join their Infrastructure team, focusing on building and maintaining a scalable, automated, and reliable multi-region AWS and Kubernetes platform. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver who loves deep ownership of complex production systems and can transform operational challenges into elegant, automated solutions.

What you'll do

Kubernetes Infrastructure Management: Operate and optimize EKS clusters across multiple environments using Karpenter autoscaling, Cilium networking, and ArgoCD-driven GitOps deployments

AWS Multi-Account Management: Manage and evolve multi-AWS account organization, focusing on provisioning, networking, access control, and cross-account connectivity

Infrastructure as Code: Maintain and improve Terraform/Terragrunt infrastructure platform, including module design, automated pipelines, and safe shared infrastructure patterns

Operational Tooling: Develop and enhance tooling for deployments, schema changes, backups, restores, and incident response

Operational Optimization: Identify and eliminate operational pain points through code and self-healing automation, with a focus on reducing manual intervention

Cloud Cost Management: Continuously optimize cloud spending and resource utilization

Incident Management: Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, with a strategic goal of reducing incident frequency and impact

What we look for

Technical

Kubernetes ExpertiseProven experience with Kubernetes in production, specifically EKS, with ability to debug complex issues at large scale

AWS InfrastructureAdvanced knowledge of multi-account AWS infrastructure, IAM, networking, and organizational boundaries

Infrastructure as CodeExpertise in Terraform or Terragrunt, including module design and state management at scale

Linux SystemsDeep understanding of Linux system internals, including disk, memory, networking, and failure modes

Education

Computer Science/EngineeringBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

Production InfrastructureMinimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience managing large-scale, stateful production systems

Incident ManagementDemonstrated experience in comprehensive system ownership, including on-call responsibilities and proactive problem resolution
