What you'll do.
Rescale is seeking a systems-oriented Backend Software Engineer to join their innovative digital engineering team. The role focuses on developing and maintaining critical platform components, including identity management, cloud workstations, and workflow automation, while supporting the company's mission to transform product development through intelligent automation and applied AI.
Responsibilities
- End-to-End Delivery: Own complete delivery of core functionality for Rescale customers and rapidly iterate on new product ideas
- Automation Development: Build and maintain high-quality automation for testing and building the main customer-facing platform
- Platform Component Management: Develop and maintain critical product areas including identity management, elastic cloud workstations, and workflow automation

Backend Systems
2+ years of experience building and operating performant, non-trivial backend systems in production
Web Performance
Expertise in web performance optimization, including ORM and database profiling
Cloud Services
Experience in deploying and scaling web applications using cloud services
Application Security
Strong understanding of application security principles
Education
Computer Science Degree
BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

What we’re looking for:
2+ years of experience building and operating performant, non-trivial backend systems in production.
Expertise or strong interest in the following areas: web performance optimization (including ORM and DB profiling), deploying and scaling web applications using cloud services, application security
High enthusiasm for supporting both rapid proof-of-concept prototypes as well as robust, mission critical components for both internal and external stakeholders.
Comfortable with ambiguity, strong user-first mindset, and ability to come up with non-regrettable technical solutions.
Flexibility and dedication to work in a team and ship exceptional software.
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
