Summary

Sentry is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Event Streaming Platform, a critical technical pillar responsible for processing billions of events daily. The ideal candidate will lead a globally distributed team, driving technical vision, system reliability, and cross-functional collaboration while enabling developer productivity and innovation in real-time data processing.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead a globally distributed team across multiple regions and time zones, managing engineers of varying seniority levels

Technical Vision: Drive the evolution of Sentry's event streaming platform, contributing to system architecture and making key technical decisions

Team Development: Nurture and grow engineers through coaching, mentorship, and strategic career development initiatives

Platform Reliability: Ensure system reliability, performance, and successful delivery of the team's technical roadmap

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Infrastructure and Product teams to build scalable APIs and developer-friendly streaming infrastructure primitives

Distributed SystemsDeep expertise in backend, distributed systems, and infrastructure engineering

Streaming TechnologiesFamiliarity with streaming systems like Kafka, Flink, Beam, Spark Streaming

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field

Experience

Engineering Management4+ years of engineering management experience, leading teams of 10 or more engineers

Technical Leadership10+ years of software engineering experience with proven track record in technical leadership roles
