Summary

As a Platform Services Software Engineer at Snowflake, you'll architect and maintain mission-critical CI/CD infrastructure and automation frameworks powering the cloud data warehouse. This role combines infrastructure engineering with software development expertise, requiring proficiency in modern DevOps practices, cloud platforms, and distributed systems to enable rapid, reliable product releases while maintaining enterprise-grade stability and security.

What you'll do

Design and Build CI/CD Pipeline Frameworks: Architect and develop advanced continuous integration and continuous deployment pipeline infrastructure that supports Snowflake's rapid release cadence. Implement automation frameworks that handle testing, validation, and deployment across multiple cloud environments while maintaining enterprise-level reliability and security standards.

Lead Infrastructure and Automation Engineering Efforts: Drive end-to-end engineering initiatives from planning and architecture through execution and delivery. Solve complex technical problems related to developer tooling, testing infrastructure, and platform services. Influence architectural decisions and guide teams through implementation of scalable solutions.

Define Developer and Deployment Policies: Establish and maintain comprehensive policies governing developer workflows, test environments, and production validation deployments. Create standardized practices that balance agility with safety, ensuring consistent application of best practices across engineering teams.

Build Testing Infrastructure and Automation Frameworks: Develop robust automated testing pipelines and infrastructure that enable comprehensive test coverage of the Snowflake Data Cloud. Design tools that support distributed testing at scale, enabling engineering teams to validate complex multi-cloud deployments efficiently.

Drive Engineering Velocity and Code Health: Design and implement tooling and metrics infrastructure to help engineering teams measure and continuously improve development velocity. Champion adoption of industry best practices in code health, testing coverage, and maintainability across the organization.

Collaborate Across Teams on Quality and Scale: Partner with other engineering teams to optimize test coverage strategies, implement feature flags for safe rollouts, and provision resources for deployment infrastructure. Analyze and decompose complex software systems, influencing architectural improvements across the platform.

Ensure Platform Reliability and Performance: Monitor and maintain the stability, performance, and security of infrastructure supporting hundreds of customers and processing billions of daily queries. Implement observability, alerting, and incident response capabilities to guarantee enterprise-grade SaaS platform reliability.

Technical

CI/CD Pipeline Design and ImplementationHands-on experience designing and implementing modern CI/CD solutions using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent platforms. Proficiency in orchestrating complex build, test, and deployment workflows.

Cloud Infrastructure and Container TechnologiesPractical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration systems like Kubernetes and Docker. Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code practices and cloud service configuration.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related FieldFormal education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating core computer science principles and software engineering fundamentals.

Experience

Software Development ExperienceMinimum 2+ years of professional software development experience. SaaS and cloud platform development experience strongly preferred to understand multi-tenant architecture and operational challenges.

Infrastructure Engineering or DevOpsDemonstrated experience building or working with infrastructure automation frameworks, deployment pipelines, or platform engineering. Understanding of how engineering teams consume infrastructure services.

Enterprise Systems and ScalabilityExperience working on systems serving thousands of concurrent users or processing massive data volumes. Understanding of high-availability design patterns and enterprise-grade reliability requirements.

Cross-functional CollaborationTrack record of collaborating effectively with multiple engineering teams. Experience translating infrastructure requirements into scalable solutions and driving adoption of best practices.
