The role

Summary

Teamworks is seeking a Platform Engineer II to support and enhance their AWS GovCloud infrastructure, working with a dynamic team that serves sports organizations worldwide. The ideal candidate will manage complex cloud environments, improve system observability, and collaborate across teams to drive infrastructure scalability and reliability.

What you'll do

AWS GovCloud Infrastructure Management: Own day-to-day operations and maintenance of AWS GovCloud environment, including management of EKS clusters, EC2, RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, S3, and IAM services
Deployment and Release Management: Manage deployment of new features and fixes across commercial and GovCloud environments, coordinating with application teams through structured intake and request processes
Infrastructure as Code Development: Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipeline templates that enforce organizational standards for scalability, compliance, and observability
Infrastructure Troubleshooting: Diagnose cross-cutting infrastructure issues, including networking misconfigurations, IAM permission boundaries, and Kubernetes scheduling failures
Observability Enhancement: Drive improvements to environment observability and stability using Datadog, ensuring comprehensive monitoring and performance tracking
Production Support: Participate in on-call rotation and take full production ownership of supported systems

What we look for

Technical

Cloud InfrastructureProven experience deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS, with specific expertise in AWS GovCloud
KubernetesHands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred), including cluster management and configuration
Infrastructure as CodeProficiency in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management
Linux AdministrationStrong proficiency in Linux administration, particularly in RHEL-based system management

Education

Computer Science or Related FieldBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

Platform Engineering Experience3-5 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering

Skills

Required skills

AWSComprehensive knowledge of AWS cloud services and infrastructure
KubernetesAdvanced Kubernetes management and configuration skills
TerraformProficient in creating and managing infrastructure using Terraform
CI/CDExperience with GitLab CI or comparable CI/CD pipeline tooling

Nice to have

AWS GovCloudExperience with FedRAMP or IL4-regulated cloud environments
Configuration ManagementKnowledge of Ansible, AWX, and Packer for infrastructure automation
ScriptingPython or shell scripting skills for operational tooling
