The role

Summary

Wealthsimple is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their innovative Platform Engineering team, focusing on building critical systems that enable developer productivity, infrastructure reliability, and efficient software delivery. The role offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge distributed systems across either Platform Engineering or Data Platforms tracks, with a focus on improving developer experience and technological infrastructure.

What you'll do

System Design and Architecture: Design and build production-grade distributed systems for platform or data infrastructure
Technical Ownership: Own technical architecture in Platform Engineering or Data Platforms domains
System Optimization: Improve reliability, scalability, and performance of core engineering systems
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal users including engineers and data practitioners
Operational Management: Participate in operational ownership, including on-call responsibilities where applicable
Project Leadership: Lead projects end-to-end from initial design through production deployment

Distributed SystemsStrong experience in designing and implementing distributed or data-intensive systems
System ArchitectureProven ability to own and make critical system design decisions
Production SupportDemonstrated operational experience in production support, incident management, and complex debugging

Education

Technical DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional Experience7+ years of experience building production systems
System DevelopmentExperience building systems used by other engineering or data teams
