Summary

Lead and manage a high-impact engineering team at Xero responsible for the Accounts Payable product area, overseeing critical workflows that process millions of daily visits. This Engineering Manager role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on team growth, modern development practices, and AI-driven innovation using .NET Core and React technologies. What you'll do

Team Leadership and Development: Lead, grow, and manage a large engineering team based in Toronto responsible for the Accounts Payable product area. Coach and mentor individual contributors and technical leads, providing guidance on career development and performance growth. Build and maintain a high-performance environment that attracts and retains top engineering talent.
Technical Vision and Architecture: Own the technical vision, operational health, and product delivery for all Accounts Payable services. Guide architectural decisions for the .NET Core and React technology stack, review technical strategies and designs, and ensure alignment with modern software development practices and system architecture standards.
Product Delivery and Operations: Manage critical workflows including Bills, Credit Notes, and Spend Documents that handle millions of daily visits. Maintain service level objectives, security standards, and incident management practices. Coordinate cross-team dependencies and navigate collaborative alignment with partner teams.
AI Integration and Innovation: Champion the adoption and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies to build automated and predictive workflows that enhance small business efficiency. Drive innovation in engineering processes and practices while staying at the forefront of technology advancements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product, design, and cross-functional stakeholders to carve out future roadmaps and solve real customer problems. Foster a culture of continuous empathy towards customers and proactively solve complex engineering challenges collaboratively.
Hiring and Talent Acquisition: Own the hiring process for your engineering group, identifying skill gaps and recruiting top engineering talent. Build diverse teams with complementary technical expertise and cultural alignment with Xero's values.
