Summary

Xero is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive mobile app development for their flagship Xero Accounting App. The ideal candidate will lead high-impact mobile workflows, champion operational excellence, and leverage AI to deliver innovative solutions that empower small business owners with financial management tools.

What you'll do

Mobile App Development: Lead development of high-impact mobile workflows for banking, invoicing, payments, and file management within the Xero Accounting App

Operational Excellence: Champion a production-first mindset, ensuring system availability, accuracy, security, and scalability through automated delivery pipelines

Team Leadership: Provide goal clarity, remove team barriers, and establish a psychologically safe and inclusive engineering culture

Technical Strategy: Define multi-year product and platform goals, exercising high-level technical judgment and solving complex, open-ended problems

Efficiency Optimization: Drive continuous improvement by identifying technical waste, simplifying complex designs, and leveraging modern practices including AI

Mobile DevelopmentExtensive experience with React Native and native mobile development platforms

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience
