What you'll do.
Join Zip as a New Grad Software Engineer starting 2027, building AI-powered enterprise procurement solutions used by Fortune 500 companies. You'll design and develop full-stack features including frontend applications in React, backend APIs using Python and GraphQL, and scalable systems that power billions in procurement spend. This role requires a Computer Science degree or related field (graduating Dec 2026-June 2027), prior startup or tech internship experience, and proficiency with web application and API development.
Responsibilities
- Design and Build Resilient Full-Stack Products: Create reliable and resilient frontend applications using React and build corresponding backend APIs with Python and GraphQL to support Zip's enterprise procurement platform. Focus on designing scalable solutions that serve enterprise customers processing billions in procurement spend.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally with Product Teams: Work closely with product managers, customer success teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, understand customer pain points in procurement workflows, and translate them into thoughtful technical solutions that drive immediate business impact.
- Ship Production-Quality Code and Features: Write high-quality, extensible, and maintainable code that adheres to industry best practices. Develop features that are immediately deployed and utilized by enterprise customers including T-Mobile, OpenAI, and AMD, ensuring code quality and system reliability.
- Design Scalable Frontend and API Architecture: Architect scalable frontend components in React and design robust APIs using GraphQL and Python to support growing user bases and complex procurement workflows. Contribute to technical decisions that improve system performance and maintainability.
- Participate in Code Reviews and Technical Discussions: Engage in peer reviews and architectural discussions to maintain code quality and share knowledge with team members. Contribute to documentation and technical design processes that inform engineering decisions across the platform.

Web Application Development
Practical experience building web applications, preferably with frontend frameworks like React and understanding of component-driven architecture and state management patterns.
API Development
Experience designing and building REST APIs or GraphQL endpoints, understanding HTTP protocols, request/response patterns, and best practices for API design and scalability.
Python Programming
Working knowledge of Python for backend development, including familiarity with web frameworks, package management, and Python-specific development patterns and tooling.
JavaScript/TypeScript
Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript for frontend development, including understanding of modern JavaScript ES6+ features, async programming, and type safety concepts.
React Framework
Practical experience with React for building interactive user interfaces, including component lifecycle, hooks, state management, and building scalable frontend applications.
GraphQL

Version Control Systems
Proficiency with Git and GitHub for code management, branching strategies, and collaborative development workflows in team environments.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field
Currently pursuing or about to complete a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field involving substantial coding (such as Physics or Mathematics with strong computational focus). Must be graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.
Experience
Prior Internship at High-Growth Startup or Leading Tech Company
Demonstrated experience working in dynamic, fast-moving environments through internships at high-growth startups or leading technology companies like Apple, Google, or Meta. Experience should showcase ability to work in collaborative environments and ship production code.
End-to-End Feature Development
Experience taking features from conception to production, including gathering requirements, designing solutions, implementing across frontend and backend, and iterating based on feedback in an agile environment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with product, design, and other engineering teams to understand requirements, communicate technical constraints, and deliver solutions that meet user needs.

Your Role
As a New Grad Software Engineer you will be responsible for building Zip’s core products and architecture. You will ship features that will be immediately used by our customers, and will work with a tight-knit team that values open communication and cross-functional collaboration. We move quickly to solve a wide range of complex technical and product challenges. While we are an experienced team that can provide constant guidance and mentorship, we value engineers who can scope and solve difficult technical challenges.
