The role

Summary

Staff BPM role at 1Password, responsible for implementing and managing engineering operating mechanisms including planning cadences, leadership rhythms, and decision follow-through for Platform and Product Engineering. This position partners with Product Operations and Technical Program Managers to ensure aligned cross-functional execution, leveraging AI tools to improve reporting, visibility, and risk management at scale. Requires 6+ years of program management or business operations experience in technology environments with strong facilitation and stakeholder management capabilities.

What you'll do

Operating Cadence Ownership: Design, implement, and continuously evolve core operating cadences for Platform and Product Engineering teams including delivery reviews, business reviews, leadership meetings, and calibration sessions. Establish clear agendas, ownership, and follow-up mechanisms while leveraging AI-assisted tools for agenda drafting, synthesis, and action item tracking to improve efficiency and accountability.
Delivery Visibility and Risk Management: Partner with Product Operations, Technical Program Managers, and functional leaders to establish end-to-end delivery status reporting rhythms and artifacts. Utilize AI tools to accelerate status rollups, identify emerging gaps, spot dependencies, and detect risk signals across Platform and Product Engineering initiatives to enable proactive decision-making.
Executive-Ready Synthesis and Reporting: Transform cross-team updates into decision-ready narratives that clarify progress, technical risks, resource tradeoffs, and decisions required for leadership alignment. Apply AI tools to draft, summarize, and refine narratives while maintaining rigorous judgment, fact-checking, and strategic context for executive stakeholders.
Program and Initiative Tracking: Establish and maintain comprehensive tracking systems for broader organizational programs, business initiatives, and planning/forecasting cycles across Platform and Product Engineering. Implement AI-supported signal detection for trend identification, overdue items, and dependency mapping to surface risks early and improve organizational visibility.
Cross-Functional Alignment and Escalation: Drive alignment on program milestones, ownership, and timelines across multiple engineering teams and cross-functional partners. Maintain clear escalation paths and decision forums for program-level risks, resource constraints, and cross-team dependencies, ensuring rapid resolution and visibility to leadership.
Lightweight Process Design: Create repeatable, scalable mechanisms to gather status updates and unblock decisions without introducing unnecessary process overhead. Design intake and triage processes that enable rapid feedback collection, transparent prioritization, and efficient decision-making across Product and Platform Engineering teams.
Cross-Functional Partnership and Coordination: Partner with Product Operations, Finance, and other organizational teams to support planning cycles, forecasting inputs, and consistent reporting standards. Coordinate across functions including Product, Security, IT, and Experience Design when initiatives span multiple teams to ensure alignment and informed decision-making.
Operating System Continuous Improvement: Identify friction points and failure modes in engineering operating systems such as late status updates, unclear ownership, and repeated misalignment. Propose, pilot, and scale improvements grounded in measurable outcomes and stakeholder feedback to build progressively more effective operating cadences.
AI-Enabled Operations Innovation: Identify and responsibly operationalize AI applications to reduce organizational overhead while increasing clarity and decision quality. Implement AI-powered capabilities such as automated intake/triage, meeting capture and summarization, status aggregation, and knowledge curation with appropriate quality, privacy, and traceability guidelines.
