Summary

Airwallex is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Core Banking Platform team in Singapore to lead the development of scalable multi-currency wallet systems and transaction engines. The role requires 8+ years of distributed systems experience, 2+ years of engineering management experience, and strong financial domain knowledge to build mission-critical banking infrastructure.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering collaborative and high-performing work environment that encourages innovation and growth

Technical Architecture: Provide hands-on technical leadership, actively engage in development process, and take responsibility for presenting and defending technical designs and decisions

Transaction Engine Development: Lead development of cutting-edge transaction engine focused on scalability, financial accuracy, and adaptability for global operations

Multi-Currency Wallet Platform: Build and maintain distributed multi-currency wallet platform providing precise financial oversight for client ledgers

Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with product teams and other engineering teams to ensure alignment between technical solutions and business objectives

Process Innovation: Innovate productivity-enhancing tools and processes, exploring AI opportunities to continually improve engineering practices and system observabilities

System Reliability: Ensure high availability and consistency across mission-critical distributed banking systems supporting global financial operations

Financial Accuracy: Maintain meticulous attention to financial correctness and detail, ensuring reliability in client ledgers and transaction processing

Distributed SystemsStrong foundation in designing and implementing distributed systems with hands-on backend development experience

Database TechnologiesExtensive experience with database technologies including relational and NoSQL systems for financial data

Cloud PlatformsStrong experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS including EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront services

ContainerizationHands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for scalable application deployment

Event-Driven ArchitectureExperience developing and maintaining event-driven architectures for real-time processing

Automated TestingExperience developing and maintaining automated tests and quality control processes

Education

Bachelor's DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field

Experience

Software Engineering8+ years of software engineering experience with focus on solving availability and consistency challenges across mission-critical distributed systems

Engineering Management2+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team of developers in fast-paced technology environment

Financial DomainSolid understanding of accounting concepts (ledger, financial transactions) and experience working in financial services domain
