What you'll do.

Airwallex is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Growth team in San Francisco to lead user acquisition and market expansion initiatives. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team management, requiring 8+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years of team management experience. The position focuses on building scalable architectures, A/B testing frameworks, and data-driven growth features for a global fintech platform valued at $8 billion.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Hands-on design, implementation, and delivery of growth features for user acquisition and market expansion
  • Product Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers to analyze requirements and produce technical solutions and execution plans
  • Architecture Review: Analyze and validate technical designs for software functions from team members
  • Code Quality Management: Review code from team members and ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices
  • Product Roadmap Execution: Engage with Product Managers to build backlogs that contribute to roadmap execution
  • Team Development: Lead hiring, training, and development of engineers within the managed team
  • A/B Testing Framework: Build and maintain robust experimentation frameworks for growth optimization
  • Data Pipeline Management: Oversee ETL processes and data pipelines for growth analytics and user segmentation
  • Scalable Architecture Design: Design and implement scalable systems for high-traffic growth pages and user onboarding flows

Qualifications

Technical

  • Software Engineering Experience

    8+ years of software engineering experience with focus on growth or related technologies

  • Management Experience

    2+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team of developers

  • API Proficiency

    Strong experience with API design, development, and integration

    Proficient with ETL processes and data pipeline architecture

Education

  • Technical Degree

Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on design, implement and deliver growth features

  • Work closely with Product Managers to analysis the product requirements and then produce the technique solutions & execution plan to deliver the software products

  • Analyze and validate the technique design for the software functions from the team

  • Review code from team members and ensure the standards

  • Engage with the Product Manager into building a backlog that continuously contributes to the execution of the roadmap

  • Contributing to the hiring, training and development of the engineers within the managed team

Minimum qualifications:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with experience on growth or related technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience solving GTM operations end-to-end

  • Knowledge of data warehousing, customer segmentation, and analytics tools

  • Familiarity with building internal or customer-facing products with AI & LLMs
