The role

Summary

Airwallex seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the Onboarding team, which handles KYC, risk operations, and customer onboarding for their global financial platform. The role requires 10+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years in leadership, managing teams that build API-heavy systems and compliance-focused solutions in a regulated fintech environment.

What you'll do

Team Leadership and Development: Lead talent strategy, recruit top-tier engineers, and build high-performing engineering organizations with succession planning
Performance Management: Set goals, establish career paths, run performance and compensation processes, and provide regular feedback and development plans
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead execution with stakeholders across Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, Support, and other engineering teams
Strategic Planning: Provide strategic leadership for mission-critical platform, aligning technical direction with business goals and regulatory requirements
Executive Communication: Communicate progress, insights, and business impact of initiatives to executive leadership and company stakeholders
Team Scaling: Support hiring and onboarding processes to scale the engineering team sustainably
Culture Building: Cultivate a culture of ownership, inclusion, and excellence within the engineering organization

Software Engineering Experience10+ years of software engineering experience with deep technical expertise
API and Integration SystemsTrack record of building API-heavy and integration systems in production environments

Education

Engineering BackgroundStrong educational foundation in computer science, software engineering, or related technical field

Experience
