The role

Summary

A Principal Software Engineer position at Airwallex focused on owning and architecting the company's edge networking infrastructure including API gateways, CDN, DNS, and global accelerators. This P5-level role requires deep cloud networking expertise and the ability to design secure, scalable systems for a fintech platform serving 200,000+ global businesses.

What you'll do

Edge Network Architecture: Design and evolve architecture for API gateways, DNS services, CDNs, and global accelerators

Border Security Implementation: Partner with InfoSec to design DDoS protection, bot mitigation, and anomaly detection systems

API Route Management: Build end-to-end processes and tooling for route registration, approval, and change management

QoS Policy Enforcement: Implement rate limiting and quality of service policies for prioritized customer and partner APIs

Global Performance Optimization: Establish reliability goals and tune latency, failover, and availability across regions

Multi-cloud Strategy: Design hybrid and multi-cloud edge strategy with backbone traffic replication

Security Governance: Define firewall rule governance and bad actor prevention mechanisms

Platform Compliance: Work with platform teams to enforce compliance across microservices and gateways

Observability Implementation: Contribute to internal tools for monitoring, access review, and lifecycle auditing

Financial Services ExperienceExperience supporting financial or regulated workloads (preferred)
