The role

Summary

Airwallex is seeking a Senior/Staff Network Engineer to build and maintain global corporate network infrastructure across 26+ offices worldwide. This role involves designing secure network architectures, managing multi-vendor environments including Juniper and Palo Alto systems, and leading network operations for a rapidly scaling fintech company valued at $8B.

What you'll do

Network Infrastructure Design: Build foundations of new corporate network and design team structure for future scaling
Global Office Network Deployment: Design and build corporate network infrastructure for new Airwallex offices worldwide and upgrade existing portfolio
Multi-Site Network Management: Design, implement, and maintain highly available and secure corporate network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, Wireless, VPN) across multiple global offices
Hardware Configuration: Configure on-premises gateway/router/networking hardware globally, including mixed vendors in various locations
Global Connectivity Management: Manage global connectivity over international leased lines and domestic internet connections
Complex Device Troubleshooting: Lead configuration and troubleshooting of complex network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points
Incident Response Leadership: Own CorpNet operations and act as first-responder for complex network issues, managing incidents through completion and after-action reports
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with CorpSec, ProdSec, Engineering, Product, IT Engineering, and Workplace teams to integrate network solutions
Network Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures
Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies and solutions to support business growth
Team Leadership: Mentor, develop and coach network engineers and staff while managing underperformers and attracting talent
Global On-Call Support: Participate in global on-call rotation providing primary response for corporate networking issues in follow-the-sun model
After-Hours Implementation: Support flexible scheduling for network upgrades and weekend implementation work to minimize business disruption

Palo Alto Networks ProficiencyAdvanced experience with Palo Alto Networks vendor solutions and security appliances
Multi-Vendor EnvironmentDemonstrated experience in mixed networking vendor environments (Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba) in global companies
China ConnectivityExperience with networking solutions for mainland China and international connectivity requirements
Wireless TechnologyStrong understanding of WiFi technology and endpoint engineering with hardware knowledge (Juniper Mist, Cisco Meraki, Aruba)
Command-Line ConfigurationExpert understanding of command-line configuration of networking hardware and vendors (JunOS, IOS, etc.)

Education

Bachelor's DegreeBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)

Network Engineering Experience5+ years of relevant experience in similar network engineering role
Team LeadershipExperience managing or leading team of network engineers, ideally at startup from early days to large corporate footprint
Global Network OperationsExperience with international network operations and multi-region connectivity
