Role

What you'll do.

Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer at AKASA - a leading generative AI healthcare platform - focusing on deploying machine learning models that power healthcare revenue cycle automation. You'll architect and execute deployments for enterprise health systems, build LLM evaluation frameworks, and drive product improvements in healthcare RCM technology while working across client engagement, product, and R&D teams.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and Implement ML-Powered Solutions: Execute end-to-end implementation tasks for new client deployments spanning requirements analysis, system configuration, comprehensive testing protocols, production rollout, and ongoing health monitoring. Ensure healthcare revenue cycle automation deployments meet clinical quality and documentation accuracy standards for enterprise health systems.
  • Build LLM Evaluation Frameworks: Design and implement sophisticated evaluation frameworks to continuously measure and improve large language model performance across customer deployments. Develop both offline and online evaluation methodologies to assess model quality, hallucination rates, and business impact metrics specific to healthcare coding and documentation workflows.
  • Lead Client Technical Onboarding: Guide enterprise healthcare customers through technical onboarding, system integration setup, production troubleshooting, and data acquisition pipelines. Collaborate with client engagement teams to ensure smooth handoffs and long-term customer success in healthcare revenue cycle operations.
  • Collaborate on Platform Development: Work closely with R&D engineering teams to build robust, scalable client solutions that address healthcare-specific challenges. Contribute architectural feedback, deployment insights, and technical recommendations that directly shape product platform improvements and feature prioritization.
  • Provide Product and Engineering Feedback: Translate real-world deployment experiences and customer insights into actionable feedback for product and engineering teams. Identify patterns across healthcare deployments that inform optimization opportunities, feature gaps, and scalability improvements in the AI-native product suite.

Technical

  • Advanced Python Development

    Demonstrated proficiency with 5+ years of professional Python experience for backend systems, data pipelines, and ML model integration in production healthcare environments. Must be comfortable with Python frameworks and best practices for enterprise deployment scenarios.

  • LLM Evaluation and Metrics Design

    Hands-on experience designing and executing both offline and online LLM evaluations to measure model quality, performance, and business impact. Skilled in defining evaluation metrics, building evaluation datasets, and analyzing model behavior in healthcare use cases.

  • Database and API Integration

    Strong proficiency working with relational database systems, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and complex data workflows. Comfortable optimizing database queries, designing schemas, and ensuring data integrity across healthcare systems.

  • ETL Pipeline Development

    Experience designing and maintaining robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines for healthcare data integration. Ability to handle complex healthcare data transformations, data validation, and error handling in production environments.

  • Systems Integration and Deployment

    Proficiency in integrating third-party systems, configuring complex deployments, and troubleshooting production issues. Experience with healthcare system integration patterns, compliance requirements, and deployment automation.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

    Required foundational degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field. This provides essential computer science theory and software development fundamentals necessary for system architecture and backend engineering work.

Experience

  • 5+ Years Professional Software Development

    Five or more years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial production Python development. Track record of building and deploying scalable systems, managing technical complexity, and delivering results in enterprise environments.

  • ML Model Deployment Experience

    Demonstrated experience deploying machine learning models to production environments, managing model lifecycle, and working with data science teams. Understanding of model validation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement processes.

  • Client-Facing Technical Role

    Previous experience in client-facing technical roles such as forward deployed engineer, solutions engineer, or technical implementation specialist. Comfort communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and managing client success.

About the Role

As a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll deliver client deployments that empower healthcare revenue cycle teams to work faster, more accurately, and with greater insight. You will work on the lifecycle and deployment of the ML models that power our products.

You’ll work closely with client engagement, product, and R&D teams to ensure smooth deployments, ongoing production stability and expansion of our deployment platform.

Compensation

  • Based on market data and other factors, the salary range for this position is $170,000-$205,000 + Equity. However, a salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those listed in the job description.
