The role

Summary

Benchling is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join their Process Development team, focusing on building a critical workflow platform for biotech and pharmaceutical companies. The role involves developing full-stack solutions that enable scientific manufacturing process execution, with a strong emphasis on AI-assisted development and innovative scientific workflow management.

What you'll do

Full Stack Development: Build and maintain core features across workflow engine, recipes, and assays
Data Layer Modeling: Contribute to data modeling for workflow graph structures and task execution tracking
Process Standardization: Build products on top of workflow orchestration engine for industry-standard processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with AI Agents team to enable AI-assisted scientific workflows
Code Quality: Write well-documented, thoroughly tested code and actively participate in code reviews
On-Call Support: Participate in on-call rotation to support customer-facing product

What we look for

Technical

Full Stack ProficiencyExperience with backend (Python) and frontend (React) development
Production Systems3+ years of experience building and maintaining production systems

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred

Experience

Software EngineeringMinimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience
Workflow DevelopmentExperience in building complex, scalable workflow systems
