What you'll do.
Forward Deployed Engineer specializing in Infrastructure at Cohere, a leading enterprise AI company. In this role, you'll lead end-to-end deployments of North, Cohere's cutting-edge AI workspace platform, into private cloud and on-premises environments for enterprise clients including RBC, Dell, and LG CNS. You'll bridge Cohere's core product with clients' engineering teams to solve complex AI integration challenges in sectors like finance, healthcare, and telecommunications, requiring expertise in Kubernetes administration, DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise deployment strategies.
Responsibilities
- Lead End-to-End Deployment Strategy: Direct complete deployment lifecycle of North AI workspace platform in private cloud and on-premises environments, including comprehensive infrastructure planning, configuration management, rigorous testing protocols, and coordinated rollout execution. Tailor deployment architectures to specific client requirements while maintaining consistency and best practices across engagements.
- Enterprise Infrastructure Assessment: Partner strategically with enterprise IT teams to conduct thorough infrastructure assessments, identify security requirements, evaluate data management practices, and design deployment solutions that align with client compliance standards and organizational constraints. Document findings and recommendations to support informed decision-making by both technical and business stakeholders.
- High-Velocity Problem Solving: Execute with exceptional velocity while maintaining rigorous quality standards to rapidly engage customers and deliver solutions that exceed expectations. Balance rapid experimentation with production-grade reliability, enabling quick iterations based on customer feedback and deployment outcomes.
- Security-Compliant Deployment Design: Architect and implement deployment strategies that incorporate data privacy, security compliance, and regulatory requirements specific to each client sector (finance, healthcare, telecommunications). Ensure deployments adhere to industry standards and Cohere's security-first enterprise AI principles.
- Technical Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve deployment-related technical issues with minimal downtime, providing rapid response and timely solutions to production challenges. Develop troubleshooting documentation and knowledge base contributions to support ongoing operational excellence and team knowledge sharing.
- Customer Collaboration and Technical Engagement: Work directly with customer engineering teams to understand business objectives, technical constraints, and integration requirements. Serve as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise clients, providing guidance on best practices for AI integration and infrastructure optimization.

Kubernetes Administration
Proven hands-on experience administering production-grade Kubernetes clusters with demonstrated expertise in cluster management, workload orchestration, and troubleshooting. Strong proficiency with Helm for package management and templating in Kubernetes environments.
Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure
Strong expertise across major cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and GCP. Deep understanding of cloud networking, virtualization concepts, security groups, identity and access management, and infrastructure-as-code principles required for scalable enterprise deployments.
DevOps and CI/CD Pipeline Management
Solid foundation in DevOps practices and methodologies. Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools. Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative development workflows within enterprise environments.
Private and Hybrid Cloud Deployments
Demonstrated experience deploying and managing enterprise software in private cloud and hybrid cloud environments. Understanding of on-premises infrastructure considerations, networking topology, and integration challenges specific to non-public cloud deployments.
Infrastructure as Code
Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices for automating deployment configuration. Experience with declarative infrastructure definition, version-controlled deployment manifests, and automated infrastructure provisioning workflows.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field
Formal education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent discipline providing foundational knowledge in computing principles and systems architecture.
Experience
Enterprise Software Deployment Experience
Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience deploying and managing enterprise-scale software systems, with proven track record of successful production deployments in complex environments. Experience working with enterprise clients and understanding their operational constraints is highly valuable.
Customer-Facing Technical Engagement
Strong background working directly with customers on technical implementations and infrastructure projects. Demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements, communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and manage customer expectations throughout deployment projects.
Cloud Infrastructure Operations
Substantial hands-on experience operating and managing cloud infrastructure at scale. Experience with infrastructure monitoring, performance optimization, security hardening, and incident response in production cloud environments demonstrates the operational rigor required for this role.

In this role, you will:
Lead end-to-end deployment of North in private cloud and on-premises environments, including planning, configuration, testing, and rollout.
Partner with enterprise IT teams to assess infrastructure, security requirements, and data management practices.
Experiment at a high velocity and with a high level of quality to engage our customers and ultimately deliver solutions that exceed their expectations
Design and implement deployment strategies tailored to client needs, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve deployment-related technical issues, providing timely solutions to minimize downtime.
