Role
What you'll do.
Join Cohere as a Senior Mobile Engineer to build and ship features for North, an AI workspace platform designed for enterprise security and privacy. You'll collaborate with researchers and designers to productionize cutting-edge AI models while working with Kotlin and Swift across iOS and Android platforms. This role requires extensive production mobile development experience, architectural expertise, and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges in highly regulated environments where you'll sometimes need to implement custom solutions rather than rely on standard libraries.
Responsibilities
- Build and Ship Features for North Platform: Design, develop, and deploy production features for North, Cohere's enterprise AI workspace platform. Execute end-to-end feature implementation from conception through QA, ensuring seamless integration with AI capabilities while maintaining the platform's security-first architecture.
- Implement UI/UX Design Specifications: Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to translate design specifications into native Android (Kotlin) and iOS (Swift) implementations. Ensure pixel-perfect implementation while maintaining platform-specific best practices and usability standards.
- Develop Custom Security-First Solutions: Build proprietary security and privacy-focused implementations that prioritize data protection in highly regulated industries. Take ownership of custom authentication, encryption, and data handling mechanisms, sometimes creating novel solutions when standard libraries don't meet security requirements.
- Productionize AI Research and Models: Work directly with AI researchers to integrate and productionize state-of-the-art language models and AI techniques into mobile applications. Translate research prototypes into robust, scalable production code that delivers measurable business value.
- Evaluate and Adopt Emerging Technologies: Research new mobile technologies, frameworks, and best practices relevant to AI-powered applications. Assess emerging tools and libraries for their suitability within Cohere's security constraints, and make informed architectural decisions to keep the platform competitive.
- Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive technical discussions with product managers, designers, and researchers to shape platform direction. Provide mobile engineering expertise that informs product decisions and ensures technical feasibility of ambitious feature roadmaps.
- Debug and Extend Complex Codebases: Demonstrate strong systems-level understanding by debugging issues across native frameworks and dependencies. Maintain code quality by contributing to multiple layers of the technology stack and helping team members understand complex technical implementations.
