The role

Summary

Confluent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to architect and build core platform infrastructure services including authentication, authorization, and security telemetry pipelines. This hybrid role requires 6+ years of experience with backend development, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure. The position offers competitive compensation (CA$179.2K - CA$210.6K) with equity and remote work flexibility across Canada.

What you'll do

Platform Architecture: Architect, design, and develop platform services with focus on scalability, security, and developer experience

Operational Design Leadership: Lead operational design for reliability including comprehensive observability, monitoring, and incident response automation

Automation Development: Build automation and tooling for self-healing systems, proactive risk detection, failure recovery, and continuous resilience testing

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with compliance, governance, and risk teams to translate regulatory requirements into scalable technical controls

Technical Leadership: Lead technical design reviews, security architecture reviews, and incident postmortems for platform-level incidents

Engineering Mentorship: Mentor engineers across multiple disciplines on security and operational best practices

End-to-end Service Ownership: Own complete service delivery lifecycle from initial design through deployment, production hardening, and maintenance
