The role

Summary

Cursor is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Fraud & Abuse team, responsible for building and managing sophisticated fraud prevention systems. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical leader who can develop comprehensive fraud detection platforms, write code, and lead cross-functional efforts to protect the company's AI-powered software development platform.

What you'll do

Fraud Systems Development: Improve end-to-end fraud and abuse detection systems, from risk scoring to enforcement and reporting
Technical Leadership: Write and ship code directly, set high engineering quality standards, and unblock critical work
Team Building: Recruit, interview, close, and onboard engineers while establishing strong operating rhythms and engineering standards
Platform Design: Design and implement a centralized platform for fraud prevention that can scale with evolving product vectors
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner deeply with Billing, Growth, Finance, Security, Operations, and Legal to identify and mitigate fraud risks
Outcome Ownership: Own key metrics including fraud loss, detection latency, enforcement quality, and investigation time

Fraud Detection ExpertiseProven experience building fraud detection systems for usage-based services
Risk Management TechnologiesExperience with risk scoring, policy engines, enforcement pipelines, and case management systems
Third-Party IntegrationAbility to leverage vendors like Stripe and WorkOS creatively for fraud prevention

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Leadership ExperienceSignificant experience managing and developing engineering teams, including hiring and performance coaching
Incident ResponseExperience leading incident response for fraud and abuse incidents
Cross-Functional CollaborationProven ability to work effectively across non-engineering teams
