Role

What you'll do.

Cursor is seeking a Software Engineer for their Growth team to design and implement systems for onboarding, monetization, and product experience at an AI-powered coding automation company. The role requires entrepreneurial mindset, product engineering expertise, and passion for AI transformation in a flat, talent-dense organization.

Responsibilities

  • Product Growth Engineering: Design and implement systems and features for user onboarding, monetization flows, and core product experience optimization
  • Full-Stack Development: Build end-to-end features spanning frontend interfaces, backend APIs, and database interactions for growth initiatives
  • AI Integration: Integrate machine learning models and AI capabilities into product features to enhance user experience and automation
  • Growth Analytics: Implement tracking, analytics, and experimentation frameworks to measure and optimize user acquisition and retention
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize application performance, load times, and user experience across onboarding and core product flows
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, product, and research teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Code Quality Assurance: Participate in code reviews, maintain testing standards, and ensure high-quality, maintainable codebase
  • User Experience Enhancement: Create intuitive user interfaces and seamless workflows that balance powerful functionality with ease of use

Qualifications

What we look for.

Technical

  • Full-Stack Engineering

    3-5 years of experience building web applications with modern JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and backend technologies

  • Product Development

    Strong background in product engineering with focus on user experience, growth metrics, and business impact

  • AI/ML Integration

    Experience integrating machine learning models, APIs, or AI services into production applications

  • Growth Engineering

    Familiarity with A/B testing, analytics implementation, conversion optimization, and growth hacking techniques

  • Database Management

    Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and understanding of data modeling for user analytics

  • API Development

    Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture

Education

  • Computer Science Degree

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

    Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles

  • Product Engineering

    3-5 years of experience in product-focused engineering roles, preferably in startups or growth-stage companies

    Previous experience working on growth, onboarding, or monetization features

  • AI/ML Products

    Preferred experience building AI-powered products or developer tools

    Advanced proficiency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript for full-stack development
