The role

Summary

Docker is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its Data Engineering team, driving strategic data analytics evolution across the company. The role combines technical leadership and people management to build a world-class data infrastructure that enables data-driven decision-making for Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Executive teams.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing data engineering team of 8-12 engineers, establishing hiring standards and fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation

Data Platform Strategy: Define and execute the long-term technical strategy for Docker's data platform, ensuring scalable and reliable data infrastructure aligned with business objectives

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Finance teams to deliver data-driven insights, customer analytics, and support business reporting

Business Intelligence: Establish self-service analytics capabilities, build comprehensive dashboards, and implement advanced analytics including machine learning and predictive modeling

Data Infrastructure Management: Ensure operational excellence of Docker's data platform, including performance optimization, cost management, and compliance with data privacy regulations

Technical

Cloud TechnologiesExtensive AWS experience including data services (S3, Redshift, EMR, Glue, Lambda)

Data PlatformsProficiency with Snowflake, Apache Airflow, DBT, and modern BI platforms like Sigma

Programming SkillsAdvanced skills in Python, SQL, and Scala with knowledge of data pipeline development and ETL/ELT processes

Education

Advanced DegreeAdvanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Leadership Experience8+ years of data engineering experience with 4+ years in technical leadership roles managing teams of 5+ engineers

Industry ExperienceProven track record building data engineering organizations in high-growth technology companies
