The role

Summary

Jump is seeking a Data Platform Lead to drive the strategic development of their innovative data infrastructure, focusing on creating a scalable, multi-tenant platform that powers analytics and insights for sports teams. The ideal candidate will lead data engineering efforts, shape AI integration, and build a robust data ecosystem that transforms raw data into actionable business intelligence.

What you'll do

Data Platform Strategy: Own end-to-end data platform strategy, including ingestion architecture, multi-tenant infrastructure, transformation pipelines, and BI layer development
AI Integration: Drive the AI-on-data layer by defining how agents and Large Language Models (LLMs) access, query, and act on platform data
Integration Development: Build and productize data integration processes, creating repeatable patterns for ingesting first- and third-party data sources
Team Leadership: Lead and develop the data engineering team, setting technical direction and raising team quality and performance standards
Engineering Standards: Define comprehensive engineering standards for the data organization, including CI/CD, testing, infrastructure-as-code, data lineage, governance, and observability

What we look for

Technical

Cloud Data WarehousingExtensive experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred, Redshift, Databricks, or BigQuery acceptable)
Data TransformationProficiency with dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modeling
AI Data IntegrationExperience building AI capabilities on structured data, including semantic layers and retrieval-augmented generation

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Leadership Experience8+ years in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing and developing engineers
Data IngestionProven expertise in building scalable data ingestion systems from multiple disparate sources
Multi-tenant PlatformsExperience building productized, multi-tenant data offerings with client isolation and onboarding flows

SnowflakeAdvanced proficiency in Snowflake data warehouse
Data EngineeringComprehensive data engineering skills with focus on scalable infrastructure
