Summary

Notion is seeking a skilled Data Engineer for its People Analytics team, focusing on building robust, privacy-first data infrastructure to support strategic workforce insights. The ideal candidate will design scalable data systems that enable advanced analytics and AI-driven people workflows while maintaining strict data privacy and governance standards.

What you'll do

People Data Infrastructure: Design, build, and operate scalable data systems and pipelines that power People Analytics across the organization
Strategic Data Partnership: Collaborate closely with Chief People Officer and People leadership to translate strategic questions into clear metrics and data products
Data Integration: Create ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and standardize data from HRIS and adjacent systems like Workday, ATS, payroll, and performance platforms
Privacy and Governance: Implement privacy-first data architecture with robust access controls, PII handling, and governance standards
Data Quality Management: Develop and maintain data quality, testing, and observability systems to ensure accuracy and trustworthiness of sensitive employee data

Technical

Data Pipeline TechnologiesProficiency in building production-grade data pipelines and infrastructure
Programming SkillsAdvanced SQL and Python (or similar OOP languages) for data transformation and pipeline development
Data ToolsExperience with modern data tooling like Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, and cloud data warehouses

Education

Degree PreferenceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional Experience6+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or people analytics with a proven track record of building trusted datasets
HRIS SystemsHands-on experience working with HRIS and adjacent People systems data (Workday, ATS, payroll, performance platforms)

SQLAdvanced proficiency in SQL and complex data modeling
