Summary

Notion is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Search Quality & Ranking team, responsible for developing and improving search infrastructure that supports millions of users and powers the company's AI capabilities. The ideal candidate will manage a team focused on search ranking algorithms, query understanding, and search experimentation to enhance search quality at scale.

What you'll do

Team Management: Build and manage a diverse, inclusive engineering team focused on search quality and ranking
Performance Development: Recruit, coach, and develop engineers, providing regular feedback and supporting career growth
Strategic Planning: Facilitate team planning, prioritization, and work sequencing to deliver maximum user value
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional peers to improve search quality and relevance
Technical Leadership: Maintain high-quality standards for search reliability, latency, and relevance metrics
Organizational Development: Contribute to shaping Notion's engineering practices, recruiting, and organizational processes

Search TechnologiesExpertise in search ranking algorithms, query understanding, and search infrastructure
AI TechnologiesUnderstanding of modern embedding models, hybrid search architectures, and LLM integration

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Management ExperienceProven track record of managing engineering teams in search, ranking, or related domains
Search ScaleExperience handling large-scale search systems with millions of pages and thousands of users
