The role

Summary

OpenAI is seeking a Camera ISP Software Engineer to join their Consumer Products team, developing cutting-edge imaging systems for AI-driven consumer hardware. This role involves end-to-end ISP tuning and optimization for production-grade camera systems.

What you'll do

ISP Pipeline Ownership: Lead end-to-end ISP tuning and bring-up processes from early prototypes through production hardware deployment
3A Algorithm Tuning: Optimize core auto-exposure (AE), auto-white balance (AWB), and auto-focus (AF) algorithms for various lighting conditions and use cases
Image Quality Enhancement: Fine-tune noise reduction, sharpening, tone mapping, color correction, HDR/WDR, and related ISP processing blocks
Validation Workflow Development: Build repeatable capture and evaluation workflows combining controlled laboratory testing with real-world validation scenarios
Manufacturing Robustness: Validate system performance across sensor, module, and manufacturing variations with clear success criteria
Production Artifact Delivery: Create versioned tuning packs, parameter manifests, change logs, and curated datasets with comprehensive documentation
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with camera firmware, systems, and hardware teams to debug pipelines and resolve technical issues
Hardware Integration: Configure sensors and troubleshoot board-level and silicon-level issues as hardware designs evolve
