Summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Growth team in driving user acquisition, engagement, and retention for ChatGPT Premium. The ideal candidate will leverage AI-powered insights to optimize user experiences, implement data-driven growth strategies, and scale high-impact engineering initiatives that enhance product adoption and user value.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead and scale a high-performance engineering team focused on growth-driven initiatives, providing strategic direction and mentorship.
Growth Strategy: Drive user growth and subscriptions by developing and optimizing sign-up flows, onboarding experiences, and subscription models.
User Experience Optimization: Improve user retention and engagement through innovative features, personalization strategies, and re-engagement tactics.
Experimental Innovation: Design and execute data-driven experiments including A/B tests, pricing models, referral programs, and churn prevention strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Marketing, Design, and Data Science teams to align on comprehensive growth strategies and initiatives.

What we look for

Technical

Technical ExpertiseStrong background in backend, frontend, or full-stack development with experience building growth-oriented features.
Analytics ToolsProficiency in analytics tools like SQL, Amplitude, Looker, or similar platforms for data-driven decision making.

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred.

Experience

Engineering ManagementMinimum 5 years of engineering management experience with a proven track record of driving growth through experimentation and optimization.
Growth StrategyDemonstrated experience in subscription models, user acquisition, retention tactics, and monetization strategies.

A/B TestingAdvanced skills in experimental design, funnel analysis, and user segmentation techniques.
