Summary

PermitFlow is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to drive customer integration and product development in their innovative AI-powered construction permitting platform. The role combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, focusing on building scalable solutions that transform complex permitting processes for construction companies.

What you'll do

Customer Integration: Sit with customer operations during pre-sale and early pilots to map actual permitting workflows and understand real-world operational challenges
Prototype Development: Create prototypes against customer's real data and integrations, demonstrating product value and earning enterprise deals
Platform Generalization: Transform customer-specific solutions into reusable product features and platform capabilities
Feedback Loop Engineering: Build production feedback mechanisms including confidence scores, human override systems, and downstream metrics tracking
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Champion customer perspectives across product, design, and engineering teams to inform strategic product roadmap

What we look for

Technical

Integration CapabilitiesProficient in end-to-end integration development across APIs, data models, backend, and frontend technologies
Systems IntegrationExperience working with enterprise systems like ServiceTitan, Salesforce, Procore, and other CRM/ERP platforms
Production EngineeringProven track record of shipping scalable production systems with strategic performance trade-offs

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

Startup ExperiencePreferred background in fast-moving, high-growth technology environments
Customer-Facing Technical RolePrior experience in roles combining software development with direct customer interaction

Software DevelopmentStrong coding skills with ability to prototype and develop across full technology stack
