The role

Summary

PermitFlow is seeking a Platform Engineer to build and scale the infrastructure backbone of their AI-driven construction permitting platform. The ideal candidate will architect scalable, secure cloud solutions, develop automation pipelines, and drive continuous improvement of the company's technical infrastructure in a fast-paced startup environment.

What you'll do

Infrastructure Architecture: Design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-efficient infrastructure solutions to support the company's rapidly growing product and AI-driven workflows
Service Development: Create and maintain backend and frontend services, APIs, and data pipelines that support complex AI workflows in the construction tech ecosystem
End-to-End Feature Ownership: Drive full lifecycle of features from architectural design through implementation, testing, and production deployment
Automation and CI/CD: Develop and maintain robust Infrastructure as Code and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Performance Optimization: Monitor, optimize, and scale cloud infrastructure to ensure peak performance and reliability
Observability and Incident Management: Establish best practices for logging, alerting, and lead incident response with a focus on continuous learning and improvement

Technical

Cloud InfrastructureExtensive experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
ContainerizationProficiency in containerization technologies like Docker, ECS, and Kubernetes
Programming LanguagesStrong coding skills in Python, Go, Bash, and scripting languages
Infrastructure AutomationExpertise in modern infrastructure automation tools and CI/CD pipeline implementation

Education

Computer Science/Engineering DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Platform Engineering ExperienceMinimum 5+ years in Platform, Site Reliability, Infrastructure, or related engineering roles
Distributed SystemsHands-on experience with distributed systems architecture and management

DevOps PracticesStrong understanding of DevOps principles and implementation
