The role

Summary

Plaid is seeking a Data Scientist for their Fraud team to analyze and enhance fraud detection systems. The ideal candidate will leverage machine learning and product analytics to develop insights that improve fraud prevention products, working closely with product and engineering teams to drive meaningful improvements in financial technology solutions.

What you'll do

Product Analytics and Insights: Work at the intersection of product analytics, machine learning, and fraud/risk to drive meaningful product improvements by analyzing complex datasets and uncovering actionable insights.
Performance Metrics and Dashboards: Own the development of comprehensive metrics, dashboards, and experimentation frameworks that inform product strategy and decision-making for fraud detection products.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with go-to-market teams to demonstrate the technical and business value of fraud prevention products to customers and stakeholders.
Experimental Design: Design and evaluate experiments in close partnership with Product and Engineering teams to shape new customer-facing features and inform the future of fraud products.
Data Modeling: Design underlying data models and schemas that enable efficient, reliable analysis and reporting of fraud detection performance.

Programming SkillsStrong proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and machine learning applications
Product AnalyticsHands-on experience with product analytics, experimentation frameworks, and backtesting methodologies
Dashboard DevelopmentSkilled in designing, building, and maintaining comprehensive dashboards and core product performance metrics
Machine Learning EvaluationCapable of designing and interpreting backtests or offline evaluations for ML and rules-based systems

Education

Degree RequirementBachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related quantitative field preferred

Experience

Work Experience3-5 years of total experience, including at least 2-3 years working deeply with product analytics, experimentation, or data-driven products

SQLAdvanced querying and data manipulation skills
PythonProficient in data analysis and machine learning libraries
Product AnalyticsDeep understanding of experimental design and performance measurement
CommunicationExcellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
