Summary

Plaid is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for its Consumer team to lead technical strategy and team development for a new consumer-facing security and bank account monitoring product. The ideal candidate will drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and balance rapid innovation with system reliability while building a high-performing engineering team.

What you'll do

Technical Leadership: Lead technical design and execution for consumer-facing security and monitoring systems, focusing on backend architecture, data flows, and identity/authentication integrations.
Team Management: Hire, manage, and develop a high-performing engineering team, creating clarity around goals and supporting individual growth.
System Excellence: Maintain high standards for security, reliability, and operational excellence while balancing rapid iteration with long-term system health.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product and Design teams to align product goals and technical strategy, transforming complex challenges into simple, trustworthy user experiences.
Performance Optimization: Utilize data-driven approaches to improve product onboarding, engagement, and user value through continuous experimentation and improvement.

Software ArchitectureProven ability to design and implement scalable backend systems for consumer-facing applications
Security SystemsExpertise in developing robust security and monitoring systems for financial technology platforms

Education

Technical DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Engineering ManagementMinimum 2 years of engineering management experience with a track record of building and growing high-performing teams
Product DevelopmentDemonstrated experience in 0→1 product development and leading innovative technical initiatives
