The role

Summary

Replit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Fraud team to develop cutting-edge AI-powered abuse detection systems. The role focuses on building advanced guardrails and detection mechanisms to protect the platform from emerging security threats, with a unique emphasis on AI-native security challenges.

What you'll do

AI Security Detection: Design and implement LLM guardrails to detect abuse scenarios in AI-generated code and agent interactions

Threat Mitigation: Build AI-powered detection systems to identify malicious patterns, classify threats, and automate response decisions

Abuse Prevention: Develop and operate comprehensive abuse detection systems to identify phishing, cryptomining, account takeover, and financial fraud

Automated Response: Create automated enforcement mechanisms that implement platform policies without manual intervention

Incident Response: Manage the full abuse response lifecycle, including detection, investigation, enforcement, and handling appeals

What we look for

Technical

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Python and/or TypeScript for building detection systems and automation

Data AnalysisStrong experience with SQL and large-scale data analysis using BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar platforms

Machine LearningExperience building or fine-tuning ML/LLM-based classifiers for security or abuse detection

Education

Technical DegreeBachelor's or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical field

Experience

Security Background4+ years of experience in security engineering, anti-abuse, trust & safety, or fraud detection

Threat InvestigationProven ability to investigate complex abuse patterns and translate findings into automated defenses

Skills

Required skills

AI SecurityDeep understanding of LLM security challenges, including prompt injection and jailbreaking techniques

Cross-functional CollaborationExcellent communication skills for working across Security, Support, Legal, and Engineering teams

Nice to have

Platform SecurityExperience with user-generated content platforms or cloud compute abuse prevention

Advanced Security TechniquesFamiliarity with device fingerprinting, IP reputation, and email validation services
