Summary

Join Satispay's Consumer Growth team as a Senior Backend Software Engineer and lead technical excellence for a fintech platform serving 6 million users across Europe. This individual contributor role combines hands-on backend development with cross-team technical leadership, where you'll architect microservices powering payment flows, identity verification, and engagement features while mentoring junior engineers and championing operational excellence. You'll leverage Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and AWS to build mission-critical systems processing 2M+ daily payments in a collaborative environment that values technical depth, AI/GenAI innovation, and user-centric impact.

What you'll do

Build and Ship Payment Systems: Design, implement, and operate microservices that power the Satispay consumer experience, including payment flows, identity verification, and loyalty features. Manage the complete lifecycle from API design and data modeling to production rollouts and on-call ownership, handling infrastructure processing 2M+ daily payments.
Cross-Team Technical Leadership: Drive technical analysis for projects spanning multiple teams, lead architecture design discussions, and produce comprehensive technical documentation that provides stakeholders with clear, reviewable design specifications before implementation begins. Coordinate complex dependencies between services and teams.
Champion Engineering Excellence: Elevate the technical quality bar across mobile and backend teams by establishing rigorous testing strategies, implementing safe progressive rollout procedures, and proactively eliminating technical debt. Champion maintainability principles and simplicity in event-driven microservices architecture that other teams depend on.
Mentor Junior and Mid-Level Engineers: Provide technical guidance to Consumer Growth team members, helping them navigate cross-service dependencies, master event-driven architectural patterns, and develop operational excellence practices. Lead by example in code quality and system design decisions.
GenAI and LLM Integration: Design and implement backend services leveraging Large Language Models and GenAI capabilities using orchestration frameworks and AWS cloud services like Amazon Bedrock. Explore innovative AI-driven features that enhance user engagement and platform functionality.

Technical

Java and Spring Boot ExpertiseDeep, production-level experience with Java and Spring Boot framework for building scalable backend systems. Proficiency in building RESTful APIs, managing dependencies, and optimizing application performance in high-throughput environments.
