What you'll do.

Join Satispay's Consumer Wealth team as a Senior Software Engineer to design and build scalable financial systems empowering millions of users to grow and manage their savings and investments. This role requires 5+ years of backend engineering expertise with Java, microservices, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), and experience in financial systems. You'll drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and own complex initiatives from architecture to delivery while working with a mission-driven fintech team in Europe's fastest-growing wealth management platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Build Scalable Financial Systems: Architect and develop high-quality, scalable backend systems that solve complex financial engineering problems within the Consumer Wealth domain. Leverage microservices patterns and cloud infrastructure to build robust solutions for savings products, invested money boxes, and investment platforms serving millions of users. Ensure systems meet strict performance, security, and reliability standards required in fintech environments.
  • Drive Technical Architecture and Systems Design: Lead architectural decisions for subsystems powering savings and investment features, ensuring cross-product consistency and alignment with company technical standards. Participate in design reviews, propose innovative solutions for scalability challenges, and establish best practices for system resilience and maintainability across the wealth management backend.
  • Execute End-to-End Feature Ownership: Own features from conception through production deployment, driving complete ownership mindset. Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to translate business requirements into technical implementations. Monitor production performance, iterate on solutions, and ensure features deliver measurable impact to user wealth-building outcomes.
  • Foster Cross-Team Technical Collaboration: Build strong relationships with engineers across Consumer Wealth and adjacent teams to ensure smooth feature delivery and technical alignment. Facilitate knowledge sharing, resolve dependencies, and champion standards that enable seamless integration between services and platforms supporting the wealth management ecosystem.
  • Mentor and Elevate Engineering Standards: Guide and mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and mentorship sessions. Share domain expertise in backend systems, microservices architecture, and financial systems design. Champion a culture of continuous improvement, code quality, and technical excellence throughout the team.
  • Implement Financial Systems with Transactional Integrity: Apply deep expertise in building financial systems that demand high transactional consistency, atomicity, and auditability. Implement robust data persistence strategies, ensure ACID compliance where required, and handle complex financial workflows involving savings accumulation, investment transactions, and wealth calculations at scale.

  • Backend Software Engineering

    Extensive experience building production-grade backend systems with proven expertise in designing microservices architectures, implementing scalable APIs, and managing stateful services. Demonstrated ability to handle high-throughput systems with strong emphasis on performance optimization, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Java and Object-Oriented Programming

    Deep proficiency in Java with strong grasp of OOP principles, design patterns, and best practices. Experience building enterprise applications using modern Java frameworks and libraries. Comfort with alternative OOP languages (Python, C#, Go) demonstrates architectural thinking beyond specific language syntax.

  • Cloud Platform Architecture and DevOps

    Hands-on experience designing and deploying systems on AWS or equivalent cloud platforms. Understanding of containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and cloud security best practices. Ability to optimize cloud infrastructure for cost and performance.

  • Microservices and Distributed Systems

    Proven track record building and maintaining distributed microservices architectures. Deep understanding of service communication patterns (REST, gRPC, message queues), API design, service discovery, and inter-service reliability. Experience handling eventual consistency, distributed tracing, and system observability.

  • Financial Systems and Transactional Consistency

    Experience working with financial or transactional systems where data consistency, auditability, and regulatory compliance are critical. Understanding of concepts like ACID transactions, event sourcing, settlement systems, and audit logging. Knowledge of payment systems, ledger management, or investment platforms highly valued.

  • Database Design and Optimization

    Strong expertise with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), including schema design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and transaction management. Understanding of NoSQL databases and ability to evaluate appropriate data storage solutions. Experience with database scaling, replication, and backup strategies.

Education

  • Computer Science or Related Field

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline. Equivalent professional experience and demonstrated mastery through shipped production systems also valued, especially for candidates with exceptional track records.

Experience

  • 5+ Years Backend Software Engineering

    Minimum 5 years professional experience as a backend software engineer in product-based companies. Track record of shipping features to production, owning system reliability, and scaling applications. Experience should span multiple full product development cycles from architecture to maintenance.

  • Production Microservices at Scale

    Demonstrated experience building, deploying, and maintaining microservices in production environments serving millions of users. Hands-on experience managing service interdependencies, handling failures gracefully, and optimizing system performance under load.

  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship

    Proven ability to mentor junior engineers, conduct effective code reviews, and elevate technical standards within a team. Evidence of improving code quality, sharing knowledge, and contributing to team growth. Experience in architectural decision-making and cross-team technical alignment.

  • Fast-Paced Technology Environments

    Success working in dynamic, rapidly evolving technology companies or startups where adaptability, quick learning, and ownership mindset are essential. Comfort with evolving technical requirements, rapid iteration, and balancing speed with quality in agile environments.

  • Java

    Expert-level proficiency in Java for building scalable backend systems, with deep understanding of concurrency, memory management, performance tuning, and enterprise application development.

  • Spring Boot and Spring Framework

    Production experience building microservices and REST APIs with Spring Boot. Expertise in dependency injection, configuration management, transaction handling, and Spring ecosystem integration.

  • PostgreSQL

As our Senior Software Engineer in the Consumer Wealth team, you'll play a key role in shaping how our users grow and manage their savings and investments. You'll be a technical expert for the Consumer domain, driving initiatives that empower millions to build financial well-being through our savings products, invested money box, and investment solutions. Who we're looking for

This role needs someone who excels in problem-solving and cross-team collaboration with deep technical expertise.

  • Extensive Experience - At least 5 years of related experience in back-end software engineering within product-based companies, with a proven track record of building and maintaining microservices and cloud environments.

  • Domain Expertise - Deep experience working with Java (or other OOP languages) and a strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS is a plus). Experience with financial systems or transactional consistency is a big plus.

  • Effective Communication - Able to communicate in a structured and convincing manner, building trust positively and professionally with various stakeholders.

  • Technical Mentorship - A proven ability to share knowledge, review code critically, and help elevate the technical standards of the team.

Salary: €51.000 - €66.500 gross per annum.
