Summary

Sentry is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead platform evolution, focusing on architecting scalable infrastructure and driving technical initiatives that enhance the company's core monitoring and performance tracking systems. The ideal candidate will bring extensive distributed systems expertise and a strategic approach to platform development.

What you'll do

Platform Architecture: Translate business needs and product strategy into clear, scalable technical blueprints for Sentry's platform infrastructure

Technical Leadership: Partner with product and engineering leaders to align technical roadmaps with company strategic goals

Cross-Functional Initiatives: Lead and own end-to-end cross-cutting initiatives across the Platform organization, driving meaningful outcomes

Engineering Excellence: Mentor platform engineers, share best practices, and establish high standards for system design, scalability, and operational quality

Architectural Review: Review major architectural proposals to ensure consistency, maintainability, and long-term technical health across the company

Technical

Distributed SystemsExtensive experience building large-scale distributed systems with 12+ years of expertise

Cloud Infrastructure5+ years working in cloud-based environments like AWS and GCP

Infrastructure TechnologiesDeep knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, Service Mesh, Kafka, streaming frameworks, OLAP/OLTP databases, blob storage, and caching systems

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field

Experience

Leadership Experience3+ years in technical architecture or equivalent leadership role

Project ManagementProven track record of leading cross-team, high-impact engineering projects

MentorshipExperience mentoring senior and staff-level engineers
