Summary

Tabs, an AI-native revenue platform founded in 2023 and backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst, seeks a Frontend Software Engineer to join their Frontend Platform team in NYC. You'll architect scalable design systems and component libraries while driving the user and developer experience for early-stage products, working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with direct impact on the company's trajectory.

What you'll do

Design System Architecture & Component Development: Lead the design and implementation of scalable component libraries and design systems that enable rapid feature development across frontend platforms. Work on componentizing existing services to establish patterns that streamline both internal team and AI agent development workflows.
Full Software Development Lifecycle Ownership: Own features from conception through production maintenance, including requirements gathering, technical design, implementation, testing, and post-launch monitoring. Participate in two-week sprints with weekly ship goals and maintain short feedback cycles aligned with intra-month product releases.
Cross-Functional Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with backend engineering teams, product managers, and internal stakeholders to identify experience improvements for both internal and external users. Incorporate data-driven insights and customer feedback into feature prioritization and architectural decisions.
Scalable System Design & Implementation: Design and implement highly scalable and reliable frontend systems capable of handling enterprise finance and accounting workflows. Ensure performance, accessibility, and maintainability standards across the platform serving high-growth companies like Cursor and Statsig.
Proactive Engineering Initiative & Improvement: Contribute strategic ideas for new features and identify areas for architectural or performance improvements within constrained resource environments. Take ownership in building and strengthening the engineering organization's capabilities and practices.

Technical

TypeScript/JavaScript ProficiencyAdvanced proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript for modern web development. Experience building type-safe applications and leveraging TypeScript for large-scale frontend systems is essential.
Frontend Architecture & Design SystemsDemonstrated experience designing and building scalable component libraries and design systems. Strong understanding of component abstraction, composition patterns, and API design for reusable UI components.
Web Application DevelopmentSolid experience with modern web development practices including state management, performance optimization, and browser APIs. Familiarity with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility considerations.
Software Engineering FundamentalsStrong foundation in computer science principles including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and system design. Ability to architect solutions that scale with product and team growth.

Education

Computer Science or Related FieldBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating strong foundational knowledge in algorithms, system design, and software architecture.

Experience

4+ Years Professional Frontend EngineeringMinimum four years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated track record building production systems. Experience working on customer-facing products and shipping features at scale.
Platform Service Development from ScratchExperience architecting and building platform services or foundational infrastructure in resource-constrained environments. Ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and execute effectively with limited resources while maintaining quality standards.
Enterprise or B2B SaaS DevelopmentExperience building products for enterprise or B2B use cases, with understanding of workflow automation, compliance requirements, and complex domain logic. Familiarity with fintech or accounting software is a plus.

Fintech or Accounting Software ExperienceBackground in financial technology or accounting software development, particularly experience with complex data visualization, reporting, or compliance features.
