The role

Summary

Teamworks is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to drive innovative GenAI solutions for sports organizations, focusing on building production-ready AI capabilities that enhance decision-making and product experiences across their technology platform. The role involves designing end-to-end AI features, developing reusable infrastructure, and enabling AI-powered product innovations in a high-impact Platform team environment.

What you'll do

GenAI Feature Development: Design, build, and ship production-grade GenAI features that enable teams to explore data, ask better questions, and trust AI-generated answers.
End-to-End AI Feature Ownership: Manage GenAI features comprehensively, including system design, LLM integration, deployment, monitoring, and continuous iteration.
Platform Infrastructure: Build and maintain reusable GenAI platform components to facilitate safer and more efficient AI feature development across Teamworks.
Best Practices Establishment: Develop and document best practices for building, testing, and operating reliable GenAI systems in production environments.
Cross-Team Enablement: Provide technical guidance, shared infrastructure, and hands-on integration support to enable product engineering teams in shipping AI-powered features.
Architectural Decision Making: Make strategic architectural choices that balance speed, scalability, reliability, security, and cost in multi-tenant data environments.

What we look for

Technical

Programming ProficiencyStrong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, with experience building and maintaining backend services and APIs
System DesignAdvanced system design and architecture skills for designing distributed, reliable, and observable services
Data HandlingStrong data reasoning and SQL fundamentals, including complex aggregation, time-based analysis, and performance optimization
GenAI SystemsHands-on experience designing and operating production GenAI systems with prompt engineering, tool interfaces, and robust guardrails

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional Experience6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems with demonstrable customer impact
AI Feature DevelopmentProven track record of shipping GenAI-powered or ML-enabled features to production with comprehensive ownership

Required skills

TypeScriptAdvanced programming skills in TypeScript for backend service development
Node.jsExpertise in building scalable backend services and APIs
Cloud InfrastructureProduction-level experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS
Generative AIComprehensive understanding of generative AI system design and implementation
