Role

What you'll do.

Senior Software Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining RESTful API integrations that power Teamworks' industry-leading Athlete Management System. This role bridges reliability engineering for existing C# .NET integrations with architecture leadership for a modern Python-based lakehouse migration, requiring deep expertise in distributed systems, AWS infrastructure, and vendor API integration. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of software engineering experience, AWS/Terraform proficiency, and demonstrated ability to manage complex third-party integrations while establishing observability and security standards for military IL4/IL5 compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Integration Reliability and Observability: Own the end-to-end reliability, resilience, and observability of approximately 150 RESTful vendor integrations that feed the Athlete Management System, including performance monitoring, data quality validation, and on-call incident response for data gaps and mismatches across webhook and polling-based integrations
  • C# .NET Integration Development and Maintenance: Maintain, debug, and improve the existing C# .NET integration platform that interfaces with vendor IoT APIs including wearables, force plates, GPS trackers, and other hardware systems. Drive independent investigations with third-party vendor support teams to resolve data delivery issues and implement permanent fixes
  • Architecture Leadership for Python Migration: Design and lead the progressive technical migration of C# .NET integrations to Python while architecting data pipelines that write to a modern lakehouse infrastructure, establishing patterns and best practices that will serve hundreds of performance data pipelines across Teamworks products
  • Knowledge Sharing and Documentation: Raise the bar on team understanding through comprehensive documentation, architectural decision records, and knowledge sharing sessions that create institutional knowledge beyond any single engineer, improving team onboarding and reducing dependency risks
  • Security and Compliance Enhancement: Strengthen the architecture and security posture of integrations to meet military IL4 and IL5 compliance standards required for deployment in Tactical and military customer environments, implementing authentication protocols and encryption standards as needed
  • Third-Party Vendor Collaboration: Manage technical communication with external vendor teams when their APIs or systems are sources of integration problems, negotiating solutions and improvements that enhance operational health and system reliability

Full posting

Original listing.

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen the foundation of the performance integrations that power our Athlete Management System (AMS), and to help modernize them onto a new lakehouse architecture. This role sits on our Data Platform team and owns integrations that feed our industry leading AMS product and our new data platform. I'm Scott Roberts, Senior Manager, Engineering at Teamworks, and I lead this team.

Our AMS ingests athlete performance data through roughly 150 RESTful vendor integrations, both webhook and polling based, pulling from wearables, force plates, GPS trackers, and other IoT hardware. As our product complexity and customer base have grown, so has the surface area of those integrations, and they need a senior engineer who will treat them as a first-class system rather than plumbing. Your initial focus will be learning and strengthening this existing C# .NET integration platform. Over time, you'll help lead the migration of these integrations to Python and our modern lakehouse, which will become the hub for hundreds of performance data pipelines across Teamworks products. This role sits at the intersection of both: keeping today's integrations reliable while designing how they move onto tomorrow's architecture.

The Role

  • Own the reliability, resilience, and observability of our existing performance vendor integrations, including day-to-day and on-call support for data gaps and mismatches

  • Maintain and improve our C# .NET integrations against vendor IoT APIs, and independently drive investigations with third-party vendor support teams when the problem originates on their side

  • Raise the bar on how well our team understands these integrations through documentation and knowledge sharing that outlasts any one engineer

  • Lead architecture and implementation for progressively porting our C# .NET integrations to Python and writing their data into our lakehouse

  • Strengthen the architecture and security posture of our integrations so we can deploy them into military IL4 and IL5 environments alongside our Tactical customers

What I'm Looking For

What You Must Bring

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with genuine mastery of C# and .NET, since that is what our existing integrations are written in and you will be working in them from day one

  • Demonstrated experience designing and building highly scalable distributed architectures on AWS, with Terraform fluency

  • Experience building or maintaining RESTful API integrations across different systems, including working fluency with the authentication protocols vendors actually use, OAuth 2.0 and the Authorization Code grant in particular

  • Comfort independently managing technical communication with third-party vendors when their API is the source of a problem, and a track record of shipping permanent fixes and improving the operational health of systems you inherit

  • US citizenship and US-based residency, required to support our Tactical and military customers

Even Better If

  • You are well-versed in applying modern AI techniques across the software development lifecycle, we work this way and expect it to compound

  • You are strong in Python, or ready to be, since our integrations are progressively moving there

  • You have worked with IoT, wearable, or hardware-adjacent APIs where data quality issues originate outside your own system

Why This Role

The integrations you'll own are how performance data actually reaches coaches, sports scientists, and military readiness staff, so the reliability work here has a direct line to people making decisions about athletes on the field and personnel in the field. You'll also help shape a lakehouse that will bring hundreds of performance pipelines together into a data asset that does not exist anywhere else in this industry, one that will feed customer analytics, ML models, and AI agents for years. If you want the depth of a complex existing system and the leverage of designing what replaces it, this is a rare combination.
