Role

What you'll do.

Join UiPath's Engineering Systems team as a Software Engineer II focused on Routing, where you'll design and maintain mission-critical internal platform services that accelerate engineering velocity across the organization. This role requires 4+ years of software engineering experience with proficiency in languages like C# or Java, cloud systems expertise (Azure preferred), and strong fundamentals in object-oriented programming, multithreading, and system design. You'll collaborate globally to build reliable, high-performance infrastructure while establishing agile engineering practices within a fast-growing enterprise automation software company.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Build Reliable Infrastructure: Design, architect, and develop efficient, reusable, and reliable code for internal platform services that support the entire engineering organization. Implement scalable solutions that serve as foundational infrastructure for accelerating team velocity and delivering high-performance applications.
  • Performance Optimization and Quality Assurance: Ensure optimal performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by conducting thorough code reviews, implementing best practices, and maintaining high standards throughout the development lifecycle. Monitor and optimize system metrics to deliver enterprise-grade reliability.
  • Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Identify performance bottlenecks and bugs in complex distributed systems, devise comprehensive solutions to mitigate and address these issues, and implement preventative measures to reduce future incidents. Conduct deep-dive technical investigations to understand system behavior.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering teams across UiPath to design, architect, and engineer product areas and services. Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and feature planning to ensure alignment with business objectives and technical strategy.
  • Engineering Excellence and Practices: Help establish, refine, and implement effective agile engineering practices within the team. Maintain code quality, organization, and automation standards. Champion best practices around testing, documentation, and continuous integration/deployment.
  • Strategic Technical Decision-Making: Develop and maintain a broad understanding of your role and function within the overall business strategy. Contribute to technical decision-making on projects, system architecture, and engineering roadmap planning. Provide technical insights that align engineering efforts with company objectives.
  • Distributed Team Coordination: Work effectively with globally distributed engineering teams to plan feature development, design system components, and build comprehensive engineering roadmaps. Facilitate communication and collaboration across time zones and regions.

Technical

  • High-Level Programming Language Proficiency

    4+ years of professional software engineering experience using one or more high-level programming languages such as C#, Java, or similar enterprise-grade languages. Deep proficiency in at least one programming language and its complete ecosystem, including standard libraries, frameworks, and development tools.

  • Cloud Systems Architecture

    Hands-on experience working with cloud computing platforms, with preference for Azure. Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, services, deployment models, and best practices. Familiarity with AWS or GCP is also valuable. Experience designing and deploying applications in cloud environments.

  • Object-Oriented Programming and Design Patterns

    Strong grasp of object-oriented programming principles including encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction. Comprehensive knowledge of architectural design patterns such as MVC, Repository, Dependency Injection, Factory, and other enterprise-grade patterns used in large-scale systems.

  • Concurrency and Asynchronous Programming

    Expert-level understanding of multithreading, synchronization primitives, thread safety, and concurrent programming models. Strong knowledge of Task Parallel Library (TPL), async/await patterns, and asynchronous programming paradigms. Experience managing race conditions, deadlocks, and concurrency issues.

  • Data Structures and Algorithms

    Deep understanding of fundamental data structures including lists, vectors, stacks, queues, heaps, and hash tables. Strong knowledge of sorting and searching algorithms with ability to analyze and optimize time and space complexity. Ability to select appropriate data structures for specific use cases to achieve optimal performance.

Education

  • Computer Science Fundamentals

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred. Equivalent practical experience and demonstrated mastery of computer science fundamentals can substitute for formal degree.

Experience

  • Software Development Experience

    Minimum 4 years of professional experience in software engineering roles, with demonstrated ability to design and implement production-grade systems. Track record of building reliable, maintainable code and contributing to architecture decisions.

  • Distributed Systems and Infrastructure

    Experience working on infrastructure, platform, or backend systems that serve as foundational services for larger engineering organizations. Understanding of system design principles, scalability considerations, and operational excellence.

  • Global Team Collaboration

    Demonstrated experience working effectively with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones and regions. Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts across teams and coordinate large-scale feature development and system design efforts.

  • Strategic Alignment and Business Understanding

    Experience understanding how technical decisions align with broader business strategy and organizational objectives. Demonstrated ability to think beyond immediate coding tasks to consider business impact and long-term technical strategy.

    Production-level proficiency in C# or Java. Deep knowledge of the language ecosystem, standard libraries, and enterprise frameworks specific to your primary language choice.
