Role

What you'll do.

Join UiPath as a Software Engineer to design and build scalable, cloud-native backend services that power enterprise automation at global scale. This role focuses on distributed systems architecture, microservices development, and production-grade cloud deployments, requiring 2+ years of backend engineering experience and expertise with modern programming languages like C#, Java, Python, or Go.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop Cloud-Native Backend Services: Design, develop, test, and maintain backend and cloud-native services that power critical automation capabilities across the UiPath platform. Focus on building systems that are reliable, performant, and maintainable at scale, supporting cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployment models.
  • Build Scalable and Secure Distributed Systems: Architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing distributed systems with emphasis on long-term maintainability. Address technical challenges related to system scalability, availability, performance optimization, observability, and incident prevention across multi-environment deployments.
  • Collaborate Across Engineering and Product Teams: Partner with product managers, architects, platform engineers, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with customer requirements and platform objectives. Participate in system design discussions, technical planning sessions, and contribute strategic input on platform evolution.
  • Drive Technical Excellence and Best Practices: Lead code reviews, establish engineering best practices, and drive automation initiatives that improve development velocity and system reliability. Contribute to technical standards that elevate platform quality and maintainability across the engineering organization.
  • Identify and Resolve Production Bottlenecks: Proactively identify production issues, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt. Drive practical solutions with strong ownership mentality, implementing monitoring and observability improvements to prevent incidents and optimize platform performance.

Technical

  • Backend Development Experience

    Strong hands-on experience building production-grade backend services with focus on scalability, performance, and reliability. Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing systems that handle complex business logic at enterprise scale.

  • Modern Programming Languages

    Proficiency with one or more modern programming languages including C#, Java, Python, or Go. Experience writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code that follows SOLID principles and industry best practices.

  • Distributed Systems and Microservices Architecture

    Solid understanding of distributed systems design patterns, microservices architecture, service-to-service communication, and API design. Experience with challenges such as distributed transactions, eventual consistency, and network resilience.

  • Cloud Platform Expertise

    Hands-on production experience building and deploying services on cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or GCP. Familiarity with cloud-native architecture principles, serverless patterns, and managed service offerings.

  • Containerization and Orchestration

    Practical experience with containerization technologies (Docker), container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes), and cloud-native deployment patterns. Understanding of container networking, resource management, and scaling strategies.

  • CI/CD and DevOps Practices

    Experience implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, and deployment automation. Understanding of GitOps and modern release management practices.

  • Monitoring, Logging, and Observability

    Expertise in implementing comprehensive observability solutions including distributed tracing, structured logging, metrics collection, and alerting. Experience with observability platforms and tools for diagnosing production issues.

  • Data Structures, Algorithms, and Performance

    Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and computational complexity. Proficiency in multithreading, asynchronous programming, concurrency patterns, and performance optimization techniques for high-throughput systems.

  • Database Technologies

    Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB). Understanding of database design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and transaction management.

  • Event-Driven Architecture and Messaging

    Experience with message broker technologies (RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, Azure Service Bus) and event-driven architecture patterns. Understanding of asynchronous communication, event sourcing, and eventual consistency models.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field

    Formal education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline covering algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.

Experience

  • 2+ Years Backend Software Engineering

    Minimum two years of professional software engineering experience with primary focus on backend development. Experience building, deploying, and maintaining production systems that serve millions of requests or process critical business operations.

  • Production Cloud Systems Experience

    Proven track record developing and operating services in cloud environments at production scale. Experience troubleshooting production issues, optimizing system performance, and managing infrastructure in public cloud platforms.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration

    Experience working effectively within engineering teams, participating in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills

Required

  • C#, Java, Python, or Go

    Proficiency in at least one modern programming language with solid understanding of language paradigms, standard libraries, and ecosystem tools.

  • Microservices Architecture

    Understanding of microservices design principles, service decomposition, inter-service communication patterns, and distributed system trade-offs.

  • Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

    Hands-on experience deploying and operating services on major cloud platforms including compute, networking, storage, and managed services.

  • Docker and Kubernetes

    Practical experience containerizing applications with Docker and orchestrating containers using Kubernetes or similar platforms.

  • API Design and Development

    Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs or gRPC services with proper versioning, authentication, rate limiting, and error handling.

  • SQL and/or NoSQL Databases

    Working knowledge of relational databases and/or NoSQL technologies with understanding of schema design, indexing, and query optimization.

  • System Design and Scalability

    Ability to design systems for scale, considering load balancing, caching strategies, horizontal scaling, and managing data consistency across distributed systems.

  • Testing and Code Quality

    Experience writing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests. Understanding of test automation, continuous integration practices, and code quality metrics.

  • Event-Driven Architecture

    Nice to have

    Experience designing and implementing event-driven systems using message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or cloud-native event services.

  • Distributed Tracing and Observability

    Nice to have

    Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, ELK stack, or Jaeger for monitoring and debugging distributed systems.

  • Enterprise Software Development

    Nice to have

    Background developing enterprise-scale software systems with requirements for high availability, security, and compliance.

  • Robotic Process Automation or Workflow Automation

    Nice to have

    Familiarity with RPA concepts, workflow automation, or business process management systems. Understanding of automation platform architecture.

Your mission

As a Software Engineer, you will design, build, and improve reliable cloud services that power critical automation capabilities across the UiPath platform. You will work on backend systems that need to scale, perform consistently, integrate with other platform services, and support customers across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.

What you'll bring to the team

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience.

  • Hands-on experience with one or more modern programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or Go.

  • Good understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, cloud-native architecture, and system design.

  • Experience building production-grade services in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

  • Good knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and observability.

  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, multithreading, asynchronous programming, and performance considerations.

  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, messaging systems, or event-driven architectures.

  • Ability to write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and contribute to strong engineering practices.

  • Interest in automation, AI, developer platforms, enterprise software, or large-scale cloud systems is a plus.
