The role

Summary

Wealthsimple is seeking a Senior Software Developer specializing in ledger infrastructure and financial systems. The ideal candidate will design and maintain complex financial transaction systems using Java/Kotlin, with a deep understanding of double-entry accounting and distributed systems architecture.

What you'll do

Ledger Infrastructure: Design, build, and evolve systems for accurate and durable financial transaction recording
Transaction Processing: Handle high-throughput transaction processing with strong consistency guarantees
Compliance Reporting: Drive audit trails and create reproducible transaction reporting
Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with product, finance, accounting, and compliance teams to ensure robust financial systems
System Observability: Define and implement observability, alerting, and reconciliation tooling for ledger systems

Database ScalabilityExperience working with relational databases at enterprise scale

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

Backend DevelopmentMinimum 5-7 years of senior-level backend engineering experience
