Summary

Zip is seeking a Senior IT Engineer (Onsite Lead) to drive infrastructure automation and IT operations in their Toronto office. The ideal candidate will be a technical hybrid who can bridge engineering and onsite operations, focusing on creating automated, secure, and scalable IT solutions that enhance workplace productivity and employee experience.

What you'll do

Automated Lifecycle & Identity Management: Architect end-to-end automation for employee onboarding and offboarding across Okta, Google Workspace, and Slack, targeting zero-touch provisioning and secure access management.
Onsite IT Leadership: Serve as the primary technical lead for the physical office, managing conference room technologies, A/V integrations, and ensuring a frictionless workspace for onsite and hybrid teams.
Infrastructure and Network Security: Manage and secure corporate network infrastructure including WiFi, LAN, VPN, and firewalls. Collaborate with Information Security to automate compliance monitoring and threat remediation.
Advanced Scripting and Workflow Automation: Develop custom scripts using Python, PowerShell, and Bash to integrate SaaS tools, transform manual help desk tasks into automated workflows, and enhance operational efficiency.
Documentation and Process Optimization: Create and maintain high-quality runbooks and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring repeatable and well-documented IT processes.
Technical Support and User Experience: Provide top-tier support for Mac and Windows hardware and software through Jira Service Management, focusing on identifying opportunities for future automation.

Technical

Networking SkillsComprehensive understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and firewall management
Automation ToolsProficiency in workflow automation software, REST APIs, and scripting languages including Python, Bash, and PowerShell
Security ToolsExperience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools like Iru/Intune and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools like CrowdStrike

Education

DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field preferred

Experience

IT Systems Engineering5+ years of experience in IT Systems Engineering, with previous Onsite Lead experience preferred
