IT Support Engineer at Airwallex provides comprehensive technical support to a global fintech organization with 2,300+ employees across 27 offices. This role serves as the primary point of contact for employees in the Americas region, handling everything from new hire onboarding and service desk support to hardware troubleshooting and AV management, requiring strong macOS expertise, SaaS platform administration experience, and excellent customer service skills in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide On-Site and Remote IT Support: Deliver comprehensive technical support to Airwallex employees and contractors both in physical offices and remotely, serving as the first point of contact for technology-related issues and questions across the Americas region.
- Hardware and Software Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex issues with Windows and Apple hardware, macOS, Windows, and iOS devices through systematic debugging methodologies and hands-on technical troubleshooting across the entire hardware and software stack.
- SaaS Platform Administration and Support: Provide expert support and basic administration for mission-critical SaaS applications including Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Google Chrome, Okta, Confluence, and JIRA, ensuring smooth daily operations for global teams.
- Audio-Visual and Meeting Room Support: Manage and troubleshoot AV systems for meeting rooms, all-hands gatherings, event spaces, and office technology infrastructure, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across all Airwallex locations.
- New Hire IT Onboarding Program Management: Lead weekly new hire IT onboarding events, guiding employees through initial setup of computers, accounts, software licenses, and system access while creating a positive first experience with IT support services.
- Employee Offboarding and Asset Management: Oversee complete offboarding processes for departing employees, including secure laptop recovery, hardware refresh cycles, account deprovisioning, and data security protocols for assigned regions.
- Technical Documentation and Knowledge Management: Author clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles that empower employees to resolve common issues independently and reduce support ticket volume.
- Global IT Operations Collaboration: Contribute strategic feedback to the international IT operations team regarding process improvements, emerging technical challenges, and opportunities to enhance support quality and efficiency.
- Advanced Troubleshooting and Escalation Management: Serve as 'smart hands' for senior IT teams, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and effectively triage and prioritize support requests with strong judgment about escalation paths and urgency levels.
- Physical Infrastructure Support: Perform hardware installation, maintenance, and relocation tasks including lifting and moving monitors, peripherals, and server equipment; basic tool usage for hardware assembly and disassembly.
- Office Infrastructure and Facility Coordination: Assist with office moves, build-outs, and on-site infrastructure inspections on behalf of the IT team, ensuring technology readiness for new or renovated office spaces.

Technical
macOS Support Experience
Demonstrated expertise in supporting Apple macOS systems including device configuration, troubleshooting, software installations, and common technical issues - this is a core requirement for the role.
Windows Hardware and Software Troubleshooting
Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues on Windows operating systems across various hardware configurations and applications.
iOS and Mobile Device Support
Experience supporting iOS devices and mobile platforms for enterprise environments, including device enrollment and mobile device management protocols.
Google Workspace Administration

Okta Identity and Access Management

Intermediate networking knowledge covering TCP/IP basics, DNS resolution, WiFi connectivity troubleshooting, and office network infrastructure diagnostics.
Hardware Diagnostics and Repair
Hands-on experience diagnosing hardware failures, performing basic repairs, and utilizing diagnostic tools for laptops, desktops, monitors, and peripherals.
Service Desk Best Practices
Demonstrated experience with IT service desk operations, ticket management systems, customer issue tracking, and support workflow optimization.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum educational qualification; equivalent practical experience in IT support may be substituted for formal post-secondary education.
IT Certifications (Preferred)
CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Desktop Administrator Associate, or similar vendor certifications demonstrating foundational IT support competency.
Customer Service Training
Formal training or demonstrated expertise in customer service best practices, technical communication, and professional customer interaction protocols.
Experience
IT Support or Help Desk Experience
1-3 years of professional experience in IT support, help desk, or technical support roles providing customer-facing technical assistance.

About the Team
Airwallex IT Operations is the first port of call for employees when they need help or have an issue with technology. We’re a friendly and helpful team, happy to greet our new hires on their first day, help employees with technical support, and manage our hardware and fleet of laptops across all of our global offices. We provide services across our service desk, over chat, and face to face and zoom in our core offices.
Job Summary:
You’ll provide outstanding customer service and support to our Airwallex team in our offices and remotely, taking a lead for ops in the Americas. We’re obsessed with delivering a fantastic support experience and world-class customer service. From new hire IT onboarding to service desk tickets and walk-up support, meeting room and all-hands AV, you’ll be the “face” of IT to our Airwallex team. You’ll be the first point of contact when things go wrong for our team, and you’ll work closely with your peers internationally to provide a great support experience for Airwallex staff. You’ll get to work on a lot of different technology and projects, and grow your skills in engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Provide on-site and remote IT support for Airwallex employees and contractors
Hardware and software support & troubleshooting – quickly able to debug common problems with Windows and Apple hardware, macOS, windows, iOS etc.
Strong SaaS troubleshooting skills – i.e. Zoom, Slack, Google Chrome, Google Workspace, etc.
Provide AV support for meeting rooms, all-hands, event spaces and office technology
Run new hire IT onboarding events every week - help our new starters set up their computers, accounts, and onboard to Airwallex
Own offboarding processes for assigned leavers or those in covered regions, incl. Laptop recovery and refreshing
Basic administration of common SaaS apps - Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, etc.
Write exceptional documentation and knowledge guides - clear, concise and easy to understand
Contribute to the global IT ops team, providing feedback on what works - and what doesn’t
Serve as ‘smart hands’ for other IT teams, helping troubleshoot issues
Handle complex requests and triage and prioritise - escalating where necessary, but knowing what is urgent vs. important
Lift and move common IT hardware, including desktop monitors and accessories, and some server hardware as reasonably necessary – basic tool use to assemble and disassemble basic hardware
Assist with office moves, build outs, on-site inspections on behalf of the IT team
Thrive in a startup environment – managing ambiguity and working with various teammates to get things done regardless of hierarchy
