Role

What you'll do.

The IT Support Engineer role at Airwallex is a customer-facing technical support position leading IT operations across the Americas. You'll provide comprehensive IT support to over 2,300 employees globally, handling everything from macOS and Windows hardware troubleshooting to SaaS administration, new hire onboarding, and AV support across distributed offices. This role requires strong customer service skills, prior macOS support experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced fintech environment while managing competing priorities across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • On-Site and Remote IT Support: Deliver comprehensive technical support to Airwallex employees and contractors across multiple office locations and remote environments, serving as the first point of contact for technology issues. Respond to support requests promptly through service desk channels, chat, and face-to-face interactions, ensuring employees can focus on core business activities.
  • Hardware and Software Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues across Windows and Apple platforms, including macOS, iOS, and peripherals. Troubleshoot common problems with laptops, desktops, monitors, accessories, and enterprise devices, maintaining detailed documentation of issues and resolutions for knowledge base contribution.
  • SaaS Application Administration and Support: Provide expert troubleshooting for cloud-based applications including Zoom, Slack, Google Workspace, Google Chrome, and other SaaS platforms. Perform basic administration tasks including user account management, permissions configuration, and system maintenance across Google Workspace, Okta, Confluence, and JIRA platforms.
  • Audiovisual and Meeting Room Support: Support meeting room technology, all-hands event spaces, and office audiovisual systems. Troubleshoot presentation equipment, video conferencing setups, and connectivity issues to enable seamless communication and collaboration across global teams.
  • New Hire IT Onboarding Program Management: Lead weekly IT onboarding sessions for new employees, setting up workstations, accounts, software licenses, and access credentials. Create a welcoming experience for new starters by ensuring all technical infrastructure is properly configured before their first day, contributing to improved employee retention and satisfaction.
  • Employee Offboarding and Asset Management: Manage complete offboarding processes for departing employees in assigned regions, including secure laptop recovery, data sanitization, account deprovisioning, and hardware refresh. Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets and ensure compliance with data protection protocols.
  • Technical Documentation and Knowledge Management: Create clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documentation, knowledge guides, and troubleshooting procedures for common IT issues. Develop resources that enable employees to resolve basic technical problems independently while reducing support ticket volume and improving self-service capabilities.
  • Hardware Management and Logistics: Lift, move, and install IT hardware including desktop monitors, accessories, and server equipment as reasonably necessary. Perform basic tool operations to assemble and disassemble hardware components, manage physical inventory, and support office relocations and build-outs on behalf of the IT team.
  • Cross-Functional IT Collaboration: Serve as 'smart hands' for other IT teams, providing hands-on troubleshooting assistance and technical support. Contribute feedback on system configurations, support processes, and technology infrastructure improvements based on real-world user feedback and operational insights.
  • Issue Triage and Priority Management: Handle complex support requests with strong judgment about urgency and importance. Triage issues effectively, prioritize competing requests, and escalate critical problems to senior IT staff when necessary, ensuring business continuity and minimal disruption to operations.
  • On-Call Support and Event Coverage: Maintain flexibility to provide on-call support for critical IT incidents and participate in after-hours coverage for company events, network upgrades, and marketing initiatives. Respond proactively to urgent technical issues affecting business operations and employee productivity.
  • Startup Environment Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced fintech startup environment where priorities shift rapidly and ambiguity is common. Work collaboratively across hierarchies with diverse teams, demonstrate ownership of outcomes, and embrace continuous learning as the company scales globally.
