What you'll do.
As an IT Support Engineer at Airwallex, you'll be the frontline support for a global team of 2,300+ employees across 27 offices, providing comprehensive technical assistance for macOS and Windows environments. This role combines customer service excellence with technical troubleshooting, covering hardware support, software administration, AV systems, and new hire onboarding while contributing to operational improvements across Airwallex's international IT operations team. The position requires strong communication skills, hands-on technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering world-class support experiences to drive employee productivity in a fast-growing fintech organization.
Responsibilities
- On-Site and Remote Technical Support: Provide comprehensive technical support to Airwallex employees and contractors both in-office and remotely, specializing in macOS/MacBook hardware support and Windows software/PC support. Act as the first point of contact when technical issues arise, diagnosing and resolving problems efficiently while maintaining a positive user experience in time-sensitive situations.
- Hardware and Software Troubleshooting: Execute advanced troubleshooting for common hardware and software issues including macOS and Windows OS problems, device connectivity, peripherals, and applications like Zoom, Slack, Google Chrome, and Google Workspace. Utilize intermediate networking knowledge to diagnose and resolve WiFi, DNS, and office network issues with support from senior staff when needed.
- Audio-Visual System Management: Provide technical support for meeting room AV systems, event spaces, and office technology infrastructure. Manage daily AV operations and provide specialized support during internal company events and all-hands meetings to ensure seamless communication and presentations.
- New Hire IT Onboarding: Conduct weekly IT onboarding sessions for new employees, coordinating the setup of computers, user accounts, security credentials, and applications. Ensure new starters have an exceptional first-day experience and are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to be productive immediately.
- Application Administration: Administer and provide support for core enterprise applications including Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, Confluence, and Jira. Handle user provisioning, troubleshooting common issues, and collaborating with users to resolve access and configuration problems efficiently.
- Documentation and Knowledge Management: Create and maintain comprehensive, user-friendly technical documentation and support knowledge guides that are clear, concise, and accessible to employees of all technical levels. Develop operational procedures and contribute feedback on process improvements that benefit the international IT operations team.
- Ticket Triage and Priority Management: Manage service desk tickets by assessing complexity, prioritizing requests based on business impact, and efficiently escalating issues when necessary. Take ownership of support requests through to completion, balancing multiple competing priorities and determining appropriate resolution paths to optimize team efficiency.
- International Coordination and Process Improvement: Collaborate with IT peers across Airwallex's global offices to share best practices, gather feedback on support processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Communicate technical challenges and solutions across different time zones and cultural contexts to enhance support consistency worldwide.

Technical
macOS Hardware Support
Hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting MacBook hardware, peripherals, and system-level issues including device diagnostics, hardware replacement, and firmware updates.
Windows OS Support
Proficiency in Windows operating system troubleshooting, software installation, driver management, system configuration, and resolution of common Windows-specific issues.
Mobile Device Management (MDM)
Practical experience with MDM applications for both Mac and Windows endpoints, including device enrollment, policy application, profile deployment, and related troubleshooting.
Google Workspace Administration
Working knowledge of Google Workspace suite management including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Meet, user provisioning, permission settings, and troubleshooting common user issues.
Identity and Access Management
Experience with Okta or similar identity management systems for user authentication, password management, single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and access control administration.
Networking Fundamentals
Intermediate understanding of office network infrastructure including WiFi connectivity, DNS concepts, network switches, gateways, and ability to diagnose common network-related problems with guidance from senior support staff.
Slack Administration and Communication
Advanced Slack proficiency including workspace management, channel organization, user administration, integration troubleshooting, and ability to communicate technical issues efficiently with colleagues and senior support staff.
Collaboration Tools Support
Technical support for Zoom, Confluence, Jira, and other collaboration platforms commonly used in enterprise environments, including basic administration and troubleshooting of connectivity and usability issues.
AV System Troubleshooting
Ability to diagnose and resolve common audio-visual equipment issues in meeting rooms and event spaces, including projectors, displays, video conferencing integration, and connectivity problems.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum educational requirement; candidates with CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Associate, or equivalent IT certifications are highly valued and demonstrate foundational IT competency.
Experience
Customer Service Excellence
Proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service in technical support environments, demonstrating patience, empathy, and the ability to support users during time-sensitive or stressful situations while maintaining professionalism.
Technical Support
1-2 years of hands-on IT support experience in a corporate environment or service desk role, with exposure to Windows and macOS systems, hardware troubleshooting, and user support.
Multinational Tech Company Experience
Previous experience in fast-paced multinational technology companies where you've demonstrated cultural awareness, empathy for non-native English speakers, and the ability to communicate technical concepts across diverse global teams.
Communication and Documentation
Demonstrated ability to write clear, professional technical documentation and communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences using written and verbal communication channels effectively.

About the team
Airwallex IT Operations is the first port of call for employees when they need help or have an issue with technology. We’re a friendly and helpful team, happy to greet our new hires on their first day, help employees with technical support, and manage our hardware and fleet of laptops across all of our global offices. We provide services across our service desk, over chat, and face to face and zoom in our core offices.
What you’ll do
You’ll provide outstanding customer service and support to our Airwallex team in our offices and remotely. We’re obsessed with delivering a fantastic support experience and world-class customer service. From new hire IT onboarding to service desk tickets and walk-up support, meeting room and all-hands AV, you’ll be the “face” of IT to our Airwallex team.
You’ll be the first point of contact when things go wrong for our team, and you’ll work closely with your peers internationally to provide a consistently great support experience, in offices or remotely. You’ll get to work on a lot of different technology and projects, and grow your skills in engineering.
Responsibilities:
This job is primarily in-office. While we do support hybrid flexibility during the week, this role specifically requires regular on-site days in our office Monday-Thursday, with flexibility to be in when needed to support events or our team.
Provide on-site and remote tech support for Airwallex employees and contractors, focused on macOS and MacBook hardware support, and Windows software and PC support.
Provide software support and troubleshooting on macOS and Windows OS
Use basic hardware troubleshooting skills - quickly able to debug common problems with windows and Apple hardware and computers
Strong troubleshooting skills with common software, i.e. Zoom, Slack, Google Chrome, Google Workspace, etc.
Provide AV support for our meeting rooms, event spaces and office technology - daily and for internal events
Conduct new hire IT onboarding events every week - help our new starters set up their computers, accounts, and have an amazing first day
Basic administration of one or more applications - Google Workspace, Slack, Okta and assist with common issues
Write exceptional documentation and support knowledge guides - clear, concise and easy for all audiences to understand and act on
Contribute to operational guides, providing feedback on what works - and what doesn’t, improving our processes and helping peers internationally
Handle complex requests and triage and prioritise - escalating where absolutely necessary, but owning an issue to completion

Minimum qualifications:

Intermediate networking troubleshooting - you should know the basics of networking and common issues with wifi, DNS and office networks. You don’t need to know DNS ports, but you should know what a switch and a gateway is.
Strong ability to multitask and work on multiple competing priorities – you can quickly figure out what needs to happen first, and what can wait a little longer
