Summary

Airwallex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Payments Platform team in Amsterdam, building next-generation payment acceptance infrastructure for a global fintech platform valued at $8 billion. The role focuses on developing REST APIs and microservices for high-volume payment processing systems serving 200,000+ businesses worldwide. Candidates need 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Java/Kotlin, distributed systems expertise, and cloud platform proficiency.

What you'll do

Payment Infrastructure Development: Design and implement new payment capabilities aligned with product roadmap for global merchant acceptance

Microservices Architecture: Develop REST services and integration components within backend microservices architecture connecting with React frontend

System Architecture Reviews: Conduct comprehensive architectural reviews for current payment solutions and upcoming payment platform enhancements

Technical Debt Management: Address existing technical debt and enhance operational effectiveness across payment processing systems

Payment Gateway Integration: Build and maintain integrations with Visa, Mastercard, and local payment methods for global merchant coverage

High-Volume System Design: Architect and implement distributed payment systems capable of handling high transaction volumes and concurrent processing

Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with payments product team and partner engineering teams on integration projects and platform development

Merchant-Focused Solutions: Contribute to building next-generation Payment Acceptance infrastructure with constant focus on merchant needs and conversion optimization
