Airwallex seeks a Staff Data Platform Engineer to lead their Knowledge Platform team in Singapore, architecting AI-ready data infrastructure including real-time pipelines, ML platforms, and governance systems. The role requires 8+ years of data platform experience with expertise in modern lakehouse architecture, big data tools like Databricks and Kafka, and proven leadership in cross-functional technical initiatives.

What you'll do

Strategic Architecture Leadership: Spearhead identification and resolution of company-wide data challenges using cutting-edge data platform solutions

Technical Vision and Direction: Provide visionary technical direction and foster a community within Airwallex's data realm while solving complex problems hands-on

Best Practices Advocacy: Advocate for best practices across the data platform, instilling a culture of craftsmanship and innovation

Team Mentorship and Development: Mentor the data platform team, nurturing both technical and professional development of engineers and data scientists

Cross-functional Collaboration: Lead company-wide initiatives across multiple teams and influence technology roadmap planning

AI-Ready Infrastructure Development: Build foundational infrastructure that empowers the company to leverage data, AI, and ML for business impact

Real-time Data Platform Evolution: Evolve the data ecosystem into a fully AI agent-ready infrastructure for real-time, data-driven decision-making

Platform Governance and Security: Implement proper safety, governance, and security measures across the data and AI/ML platforms

Technical

Data Platform ExpertiseMinimum 8 years of experience in Data Platform or equivalent quantitative field exposure

Multi-geographical Pipeline ExperienceProven experience building, deploying, and maintaining reliable data pipelines at scale across multiple regions

ETL and Infrastructure LeadershipTechnical leadership experience covering ETL frameworks, metrics stores, infrastructure management, and data security

Workflow OrchestrationFamiliarity with orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, DBT, and similar tools
