Summary

What you'll do

Architect Cross-Platform Mobile Solutions: Design and build performant, scalable mobile applications using React Native and Expo that serve millions of health members globally. Lead technical architecture decisions ensuring the codebase supports rapid feature development while maintaining code quality and developer velocity across iOS and Android platforms.
Drive Engineering Excellence: Establish best practices for mobile development including component design patterns, state management, and testing strategies. Mentor junior engineers on platform-specific optimizations and performance profiling techniques to ensure production-grade applications that handle complex health data securely and efficiently.
Implement Health-Centric Features: Build engaging mobile features that help members understand health progress, connect health data across multiple sources, and participate in wellness challenges. Translate product requirements into elegant, performant implementations that drive behavioral change and increase member engagement with preventative care.
Optimize for Global Markets: Develop applications capable of seamless internationalization and localization across European markets and beyond. Navigate app store deployment complexities, manage multi-market releases, and ensure compliance with regional healthcare regulations while maintaining consistent user experience.
Collaborate on Data Integration: Work with backend and data teams to integrate diverse health data sources into the mobile application. Design intuitive UX patterns for displaying personalized health insights and implement secure data handling practices that build member trust and confidence in the platform.
Lead Quality and Testing: Establish comprehensive testing strategies using mobile testing frameworks and debugging tools to ensure reliability in production environments. Conduct performance profiling and optimization work to minimize app startup times, memory usage, and battery consumption across device types and OS versions.

React Native & Expo ExpertiseDemonstrated proficiency in React Native and Expo ecosystem with ability to leverage community packages effectively. Experience building and maintaining production applications that handle complex state management and real-time data synchronization requirements.
iOS Platform MasteryStrong hands-on experience with native iOS development using Swift and/or Objective-C. Ability to write platform-specific code when needed, understand iOS-specific constraints around memory management, and optimize performance for various device generations.
Android Platform ProficiencySolid experience with native Android development using Kotlin and/or Java. Understanding of Android-specific challenges including fragmentation, material design principles, and optimization techniques across different API levels and device capabilities.
Mobile Testing & DebuggingHands-on experience with mobile testing frameworks, debugging tools, and profiling utilities. Proficiency with platform-specific testing tools like XCTest, Espresso, or cross-platform solutions. Experience identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and memory leaks.
State Management & ArchitectureExperience implementing robust state management solutions in mobile applications. Knowledge of modern architectural patterns such as Redux, MobX, Context API, or other solutions that scale to complex applications with significant user interactivity.
API Integration & NetworkingProficiency in REST API integration, handling authentication/authorization flows, and managing network resilience. Experience with secure data transmission, certificate pinning, and implementing offline-first strategies when necessary for healthcare applications.

Education

Computer Science FoundationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

Experience

Mobile Development ExperienceMinimum 2+ years of professional mobile application development experience, with substantial time spent on React Native projects or equivalent cross-platform frameworks. Demonstrated ability to take features from conception through production deployment.
Multi-Platform DeploymentProven experience building and deploying mobile applications across iOS and Android to production app stores. Familiarity with app store submission processes, version management, and navigating platform-specific release procedures.
Performance OptimizationTrack record of identifying and resolving performance issues in production mobile applications. Experience with profiling tools, understanding memory management, and implementing solutions that significantly improve user experience and app reliability.
