The role

Summary

Assured is seeking a highly skilled Staff Backend Engineer to drive the modernization of insurance claims processing through innovative SaaS technology. The ideal candidate will own critical backend systems, architect scalable solutions, and contribute to the company's mission of transforming manual insurance workflows through advanced software engineering.

What you'll do

Backend Architecture: Own major areas of backend architecture, including business logic, APIs, data modeling, and infrastructure design
System Development: Conceptualize, build, test, and deploy new features and products end-to-end with high-quality code
System Scalability: Architect large-scale systems to handle increasing load, complexity, and emerging customer needs
Engineering Practices: Define and implement modern testing and observability practices to improve system reliability and development speed
Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor engineers across the team, sharing best practices and contributing to engineering culture

What we look for

Technical

Backend Engineering ExperienceMinimum 8+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, with strong preference for SaaS background
System DesignProven success in designing and scaling robust, high-quality systems from early stage to maturity
Technical FundamentalsDeep understanding of distributed systems, API design, and data modeling

Education

Computer Science or Related FieldBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

Experience

System ArchitectureDemonstrable experience in designing scalable backend systems and infrastructure
Cross-functional CollaborationStrong track record of working effectively with product, design, and operations teams

Distributed SystemsExpert-level understanding of distributed system design and implementation
